Here's my latest. A 1977 Custom Balladeer 1612-1 for two-fitty. In decent shape with a couple of dings, but no top cracks or anything else too out of whack. Got this as a 'beater' to keep at work, to fiddle with during the slumps. Something I wouldn't be too torn up about if it grew legs & walked. I passed on a few Legends that were just a little more, but with 2 A braced, hand selected AAA spruce guitars already (1619 & 1983), I was looking for a slightly different 'flavor'. The truss neck is a little lighter than the K-bars, and the deep bowl is lighter than my Custom legend. The inside of the bowl is textured. Is this what is referred to as the 'hand-laid' fiberglass bowl? Also, the Battery is in a removable clip, not a box w/sliding cover. Is this how the older pre-amps were built?-or has someone worked on it? It sounds pretty darned good, but can't A/B it with the C.L., as I am still hobbling around on crutches and can't carry a guitar case. Anyway, thanx for lookin'.

yep thats a fiberglass bowl. they are much lighter than the newer bowls that to me feel more like a plastic. truss rod necks are lighter by far. i do belive thats how the older battery holders were before they went to thos terriable one with the quarter turn screw....nice looking guitar...jason

beauty!!

love the old hand-laid bowl models, probably shouldn't have sold my '71 1111... but wasn't getting much time in.. not enough hangers... and had to pad the bank account.

still have the hot-rodded 1613 tho..

nice grab!
