Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I need some shims... For my CC57... And other guitars.
But right now I need shims of a skinny 3" wide saddle.
Upon checking, my 1121 has a 2 5/8" saddle. Somehow that surprised me, cuz I had never measured them.
I kinda thought that they would all be the same size  . I'm kinda slow sometimes.
So where do I get shims? Any volunteers? Or do I send off to the Factory?
Or is this something that I can get at the Local Guitar Shop?

Location: Phoenix AZ | Arthur, I'm not fooling around. I've made shims out of credit cards, insurance cards, library cards. It works! The other thing you can do is make them out of wood. Cut a popcycle stick or tongue depresser and sand it down to size. Dave |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | In reality, I was thinking that the credit-card-type material might be good, cuz it is a consistent thickness. But I kinda wanted on of them Higher-on-one-end type.
My problem is string buzz on the high E.
This thing came with really low action, but just a touch of buzz. And as always, I don't wanna mess with the truss rod when shims will work just fine.
But I guess I could start whittling... Yee Haw! |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | OOO! ooo! I just remembered! I got an Oregon Health Plan card I can cut-up!
[Yeah, once I got a Job they cut me off...]
But can I get real shims somewhere?
Or do I just have to buy a new guitar to get them? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I betcha'... Gotta remember to collect some scraps next time we're doing counter-tops.
Kinda what I thought that stuff was that I found in my 4861.
But Greg is gonna help me out.
But y'all don't stop suggesting. I file all this educational stuff for future reference.
And so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about! |

Location: 6 String Ranch | any of the above are good although the milk container is pretty thin. You want to use something that is about .030 thick which will give you .015(a 1/64th) at the 12th fret.
Credit cards are great for this. Fornica would be good too. You want something that's not sound absorbing, something hard to vibrate well. |
