What is the difference in a 9158-0 and a 8158-0 case?

more flex in the case surface; outer shell feels thinner...probably less sturdy over a period of time.

appearance, not much except for the top lid is deeper.

side-by side, you can see the difference in the top lids although the height of the closed cases are close to the same.

new 9158 is an upgrade from the 9158's that most of us have...padded handle and appears to be more sturdy.

what does this mean for most of us? not much unless we are dragging it all over the country or the case is dropped, etc. then, I would want a 9158.

what happens is that Ovation or Adamas lists a 9158 for the particular guitar, yet some dealers will substitute an 8158 that the dealer gets for less cost. still a good case, just not the top of the line.

Thanks Tony, I did notice a difference in the two 9158 cases I have. The newer one does indeed have a padded handle, and does seem a lot nicer. Made me think the other 9159 was actually an 8158 if it weren't for the bar code on the end.

What original factory case would have been issued with the 1992 1767 Legend?...

Blessed I was not sure what case I was going to get with my Adamas I picked it up today and it's the 9158. More than what I was expecting awesome.

As for a review well I don't know how to put it all in words, but I have played a lot of guitars over the years about 12 years ago I played a friends Martin and I have never played anything like till I played some Adamas models mostly at the tour. Well this one was in Guitar Sam where I bought my Ovation, I have played it just about every time I went in. One Sunday afternoon my wife gave me a green light to go ahead and purchase the Adamas. Since I was trading the Ovation I had to think real hard and this being a big deal for me. Well I thought I have never played the Adamas plugged in so if it didn't sound better than my O plugged I would forget about it. I went to the store and played three chords probably the same chords moody knows and the tone is awesome, so I plugged her in and played the same three chords "WOW" the EQ on the amp and guitar were flat so I tweaked the guitars EQ, played the chords and I immediately unplugged the guitar and now I own this beautiful Adamas.
I would like to take a moment and thank everyone for all the encouragement you have given me over the years.
