Mark - These were the last two that the ovation factory had - so I guess 87 is it. I never could get anyone to say the exact number - I guess we know now. |

Location: Texas | Just for you bvince - I purchased the 52 reissue Fender last year. I know a man in NY that makes the hand carved leather covers for telecasters - I bought the "bling" from a company called El Dorado that specialise in carved silver pickguards, ashtray covers and switch covers... And now I have a very unusal Telecaster.

Location: Texas | She is in Florida right now in intensive care with an MG specialist - had the engine and transmission rebuilt and a hundred other things - she will be home this coming Sunday or Monday. She drives like a dream now....before that, it was a crap shoot if you got home alive.
I must say that she has travel more than I have - she came from Michigan (owned by a con artist who said she was in perfect condition)shipped to me in Texas - after one month of terror on the highway with her - she was shipped to Flordia for a major restoration and now she is being shipped back to Texas where I can finally enjoy her. I have wished that a wart the size of Montana is growing in an unnatural place on the man in Michigan!!!! |

| Wire wheels - the automotive equivalent of a slothead. Excellent.
I was born and raised 3 miles from WHERE the engine was built. Depressingly I was alive and kicking WHEN it was built......
I've got a friend who put about 10 years and a small fortune into an MGA. As I kept pointing out to him they were crap cars when they were built - he kept pointing out that there was a great car struggling to get out from inside the crap one.
My neighbour (who's ass I covet) had one of the latest MGs. It spent 90% of its life in the shop having the transmission, oil leaks and roof leaks fixed. Then they went bust.
The Chinese bought MG 2 years ago......
I hope your Florida guy fixed it good. Enjoy. |

Location: Texas | Awwwww - classic cars   They can be your greatest joy or your worst nightmare. If they are treated right and are worked on by a professional who actually knows what they are doing, they can turn out to be very reliable cars. Just riding in a car that is 52 years old is a treat and the looks you get are priceless.
If I was inclined, I could fly to Florida and drive her back to Texas - that is how good she is now. Of course, I have no intentions of driving in the heat of summer - the car would be fine but I would be found dead on the side of the road from the lack of air conditioning. :)
I don't know much about the MG's of today ( only recently found out that they were still being made) but if you can find that special MG of the past, it will put a smile across your face - and to get that smile, it will take a lot of money.
It might have helped if the man I bought it from had told me that it had been sitting in the "GReat Room" of his house for 13 years as a piece of art deco - now please - any car that sits that long - there are going to be 1,000 problems.
I am happy to report, even though my pocket book it now empty, that a piece of history has been saved. :) |
