People, when you post a link to an external website and just cut and paste the URL, it stretches that page of the OFC and one has to scroll back and forth across the page to read messages.

The way to post a link is to use the URL button below this posting box. Click on that box and you'll first get a place in which to post the url, then you'll have a box come up in which you can type a 3 or 4 word description of the link.

Please use the URL button and make life easier for everybody.

Now back to our regularly scheduled rants, er, postings....

Good post, Paul! Some links can be really looooooong.

If you prefer to use the quick reply box and don't mind a little typing (once you get the hang of it, it only takes seconds), you can use this format which is what happens when you use the URL tool.

Speaking of URLs..

Miles, as part of the general housekeeping you're doing around here, perhaps you could clean up the gallery code to disallow dangerous/confusing characters in filenames.. for example, you can put a space in a filename when uploading an image into the gallery. but then if you turn around and try to use that filename in an [ i m g ] tag, it breaks in the forums. likewise apostrophe's, asterisks, and other characters that arent UNIX and/or URL friendly should be ferreted out. I've seen some characters that even confuse the gallery software so you can successfully upload the image but can't see it even in gallery itself.

I'm functionally illiterate. If it weren't for that image that Waskel posted, I'd have had no idea what this thread was about. A picture truly is worth a thousand words...or, 51 characters. :p

Oversized images (not Waskels) are another side-scrolling nightmare.

Now there's another site feature that I didn't know existed. The URL button. And here all this time I've been putting it in manually. Sheesh. Thanks Paul!
