Location: Warren,Pa. | I recently took out a rider on my homeowners to cover my guitars. I was planning a mission trip to Mexico and I was nervous about all the airport stories I've heard.
I asked my agent if the guitar would be covered if it got destroyed in the luggage turnstile, etc. Her words were "John...even if the guitar disappears mysteriously and you cannot prove it was stolen, it's covered." Cost to insure about $10,000 in musical instruments:$25/yr.
So...since I've been unable to sell my 1581-2 for the $1250 I paid for it, and since the insurance company will give me about $3000 for it if anything happens to it, it has become my travel guitar. It's been to Saltillo, Mexico for a week. I took it to Blackwoods Campground in Acadia Natn'l Park for our vacation last week. It goes where I go! She's a fine sounding travel guitar, and I'm generous about letting folks play it. Everyone is VERY impressed when they get their hands on it. Lots of fun.
It's still for sale for $1250+sh, and I don't purposely put it in a situation where it'll be easily stolen or damaged; but I do feel absolutely free to use it in any life situation. I like that feeling!

It's a great guitar to show off fine Ovation craftsmanship.
And since it is insured, nothing will ever happen to it!

...and it is great to be able to show Ovation's best to people. I'm absolutely convinced that most people only get to see low-end O's, and their opinion of the company is formed by this.
On the way to Maine we stopped in Johnson City, NY outside of Binghampton to get our last Wegman's sub before we headed north. A new GC had popped up across the street and, to my wife's chagrin, I had to go in "for a minute". Straight to the acoustic room, sales kid on my tail, all I was interested in were the O's. Lots of Celebs, a new Ultra (this model scares me 'cause I fear it might signal the end of USA Ovations), and a Std. Baladeer. As I eyed the Baladeer the kid said proudly that it was the best Ovation in the store.
I left for the car...where I knew my Adamas was waiting for me.

I know that place very well. I used to have relatives in Johnson City. They live in Endicott now, but it's still not that far away. There was a time when I literally spent an entire year in that surrounding area ... it only seems like yesterday. I left plenty of memories there ... some great and some no so great, yes, including that Wegmans supermarket that you mentioned. |

IMO, going to the summit of Cadillac Mountain is a bit too overrated, considering that it could be reached by car. What we did was drove half-way, and then hiked the rest of the way to the top.
On our second trip there, we took a bicycle tour through its trails. Thank goodness I was in much better at that time. We were both exhausted from the experience, but very well worth it. There are bicycle shops in the area that rents them out [+ accessories]. Should I visit there again in the future, it just might be one of my to do list, though it may not be as extensive as what we did back then. |

Cancellation of the homeowners policy after inspection of the nightmarish electrical configuration required to power a dozen amplifiers, two sound reinforcement systems, and 50 neon lights hanging alongside those guitars will be much more expensive! |

John <>{ That was my wife's favorite supermarket when we lived in New York. I used to sing in Binghamton about once a week so I would take her there shopping after I was done since she helped me tote all the gear. :D |

Location: Warren,Pa. | We go to Acadia every Sept. for the last 10 years. As it turned out, we had the time now and won't have time this fall. The weather was just like in Sept. strangely enough. We've been there enough times that it feels like home to us. We don't really do the touristy things any more so we bypass the crouds for the most part.
This year since money was very tight we borrowed camping stuff from friends and stayed in Blackwoods for 6 nights @ $20/nt. We had our concerns from the start since the last time we went camping was when the kids were little. THAT was pure work! This time around was a real pleasure. It's a quiet place and you're camping in thick evergreens with the sound of the waves on the rocks at night. A glass of wine...a little guitar...somewhere someone was playing an accordian quietly.
During the days we rode our Honda Silver Wing around the coastal areas. Sorry I've gotten carried away. We hope to move there in a couple of years when Maryanne retires. I'm ready now.
