For anyone who was a Yankee fan in the 70s and 80s (or the 60s and 90s for that matter!) - Phil Rizzuto died today. He was alot of fun to listen to his game calling (or lack thereof).

For those of you who aren't Yankee fans - he was the voice of the baseball announcer in Meatloafs "Paradise By The Dashboard Light".

One of the very first books I remember checking out of the library as a child was his biography. We didn't have Harry Potter back then, so I ready every baseball story in the entire library one summer.

Holy Cow!!! rest in peace Phil. Back in 1994 I made a trip to Cooperstown. It just happened to be induction weekend and Phil was being inducted. He was doing a signing at on of the stores. I didn't get an autograph. I have a picture of his display at the Hall Of Fame. I knew I should have gotten his autograph during the drive home. Frank Messer and Bill White were part of his broadcasting team.

RIP "Scooter" Go play a little baseball with Mickey and the others.

I remember watching the Yankees and the Dodgers play in the World Series AKA The Subway Series.
Back then they were baseball players not multi million dollar pampered crybabies.

Baseball at its best
