In response to those email tweaks, I've gotten...

Who's up for an October OFC get together in the land of the mouse and the gator - sunny Orlando, FL? By then the weather should be nice.

It looks like the weekend of the 27th is the target date, though if anyone wants to show up on Friday the 26th, I'm OK with starting early! If we know enough songs and the food holds out we can go through Sunday. We have room for a body or two, so if anyone wants to stay we'll make sure to move the bodies out for you.

My wife is ready to start stocking up food and drinks, so if ya got any requests let me know!

Slydog has access and management approval to take over a tavern, stage, dance floor, pa, and stocked bar with bartender.... should inclement weather arise, or as an additional meeting spot. we can have the place till 9 o'clock pm if we need it.

we're on the east coast about an hour from Orlando.

if Char's out of the hospital by then and everything's going ok.. we'll head over to O-town tho.

Hmmmmm.....a trip to Orlando in Late October?? Good friends, fine food, AND some O and A playing?

I AM THERE! Sorry to shout, but I am excited. :D

Can we officially call this ZILLAFEST '07?! ;)

Steve, I will PM you soon per our previous discussion regarding hotels nearby.

Calling out all Southern Tour Brothers, let's show the Florida Boys some support!

Was planning a road trip to Tampa tomorrow...called off. Daughter now in Tampa. Might be possible. Probable two electrics - Newport 12 and one of the Storm series; not much room in a Mustang convert. with wife and cat.

Oh gosh...active deals aside, I'd love to do that one. May even be able to write this one down as family necessary

Missus and I need to start some Real Estate window shopping for a new home in the next 12-18 months.

It is the #1 son's 21st but we are going to Vegas with him for thanksgiving so I think he will be doing his first legal drinking in Boston that weekend.

Will confirm in the next week or two.

I'm definitely in on Zillafest! Can I stay wif you?

And I'm really trying my best to swing Billapalooza. If there's still room when I raise the tuition, I'm planning on signing up. It would cut me out of the tour next year, but it seems too good to pass up.

Now we're getting somewhere. Thanks, Zilla. I'd love to stay with y'all. We can hash out the tour/Bealapalooza stuff in October.

Not having Lanaki will stink, but Zilla will lay down some smoking lead for us.

Seeing as how I plan to be in FL at that time, how could I miss this? Tony, I could provide some guitar transport if desired. I will, at the least, be there Saturday with Friday likely and Sunday possible.

Great timing 'zilla-man. I'm told my best performance piece is Zombie Jamboree. Just the right time of year to dust it off and trot it out.

Blues, just pack the wife and kids and send them to Mickey's while you play. They know that it will be a great sacrifice on your part and will love you forever for it! They also will cancel any pending engagements that might conflict with Zillafest

The plan so far...
We will start up Friday whenever somebody shows up and go Sunday until people leave. If people don't leave, I'll call in sick on Monday!

Looks like the good Captain has grabbed a sleeping spot. We have room for another 1 or 2, or three depending on how picky you are and how we stack the kids.

There are also a few hotels close by, I can't remember what they are other than a Marriott. I'll scope them out and post info.

I'm really looking forward to this. My wife, who has been encouraging me, is starting to get nervous, but is trying to make this an excuse to get new furniture, new appliances and new carpet out of the deal. "You'll never fit enough beer and meat in that old fridge!"

Maybe we'll have to pile some guitars in a van and ride up the road for a group pic in front of the big gator.

I'm pretty sure there's a nice size gator in our lake. If you can coax him onshore maybe we can get a picture, just don't let him eat your guitar!

As luck(?) would have it, I have to go in for a rotator cuff repair (minor) in 4 weeks, which would make it only another 4 or so to the jam. I am trying to get it moved up sooner so I will have more time to recoup before the event. I should be there at any rate, if only to take pictures, but hopefully healed enough so you guys can see just how bad I really do play.

Zillafest two month drill time!

Song list recommendations? We can start with the list from the Southern Jam and add on, or start anew for those that weren't there. Y'all know that I need as much time to prepare as possible. Any song that has D-G-C is fine!

Whose coming, and more importantly, what O's and A's are ya brangin?!

Like the Southern Jam, I will brang my Nikon so's I'll have somethin to do when the playing gits above my level.

OK, maybe I'll bring more than one...(still trying to find one that I can play) Maybe if I found one with only 1 string, I could master it. How about a washtub with a broom handle?

Trader Jim, please quit trying to steal MY "I can't play worth a hoot!" thunder. We have played together and you KNOW that you are better than me.

And don't think for a moment that a little shoulder surgery will entitle you to this line of thinking either. You will still be better than me with one hand and one string.

You can always use the washtub as a drum.

Jim, I know you're sandbagging. I heard you play a few licks at the "big banjo" guitar store that I couldn't begin to make happen. You just like to listen and take pictures.... :D And yes, I might just bring a snare drum. (the only piece of equipment I have left.)

Me either, but I still like to butcher something new once in a while.

Maybe I should have said "which ten songs from the songbook should we really learn?" I'll take a look at it and find a few that we actually played, and sounded okay.

Here's the Southern Style songbook in a PDF:
OFC Southern Style Official Songbook

This is a collection of the songs that were suggested prior to the Jamboree last June. About half of them we never played, but it was a good starting place for a jam. They're in alphabetical order, except for a Hank Williams medley, that's filed under Hank.

I have two deluxe edition songbooks in binders left that I'll bring to Orlando. One belongs to Chatman, the other is up for grabs.

We will not be able to attend. my wife's health has taken a downturn, and Char has been pretty much bed-ridden since friday. She's anemic, and her blood is too thin(again), and we can't seem to get her stabilized on the bloodthinners which have to run stable for 6-8 weeks before they will schedule her surgery, which has now been put off twice for this reason... we're going for more tests later today.

plus she had her flu shot... and in her weakened condition she had a reaction from that as well.

anyway... while your'e all heading down and past,
wave, honk, and send a prayer her way.

I'll meet up with most you guys one of these days..

have a great time all.

Glenn

Glenn, I'm really sorry to hear you won't make it. We will definitely keep Char in our prayers.

Yes, Saturday would be the big day.

So, we have a partial role call - anybody else in? I told the missus I'd get a number so she can buy food.

Does anybody have any drink requests?
