UPS delivered the U681T to Simpleville today, direct from California. Upon opening the professionally packed box (can you say tank) and removing the UTE, I carefully and easily strummed the first chord.

Well to say that it boomed is not exactly correct. After getting the ringing from my ears to stop, I heard dogs barking, children crying, car alarms sounding. I noticed that the front of the house had a large sonic hole where there used to be windows. As sirens quickly approached the house, I put the UTE back in it's case and hid it where no one but me, knows where it is.

I wonder what lame excuse I can use for this mess!

mtnbikerfred, thank you again for the beautiful UTE! It's exactly as you described, but better. She's a booming, ringing, sustaining wonder. I will happily take care of Trader Jim's commission on this one.

If anyone every gets a chance to buy a guitar from Fred, DO IT! You will not find anyone better to deal with in every aspect. As Al would say, "'Nuf said"

Well, the police and fire departments are here now, seems I have some splaining to do.

Jim

Jim, you're an animal. Maybe we can keep a breeze from toppling this one.

Seriously, you're working on a great collection, but I remember Sandy mentioning the words "expensive hobby" in Asheville, so watch out.

Jas, I have been talking up an Adamas for awhile (talk is cheap as they say). When Sandy heard Trader Jim's UTE, over two days together, it wasn't hard to sell her on the idea. Matter of fact, it was really too easy. Hmmmmm....I am starting to get suspicious now!

I have kept to the 5 or 6 guitar and a UKE rule though. Actually had a lot of fun playing the Uke last night. Sandy truly is my best friend and has usually supported my crazy, hair brained obsessions over the 30 years that we have been together. I think that she knows that this obsession festered for a long, long time after having played a little when we were young.

Sorry for the BOOM Randy, after earthquakes and hurricanes, you must be a little shell shocked! Hope that all's well.

Mike, were you looking for a brown or an orange truck?

U681 is a stellar instrument and makes one scratch their head why these were not made by the thousands.

I was wondering what that disturbance was... Congrats Jim, and welcome to the UTE club! Glad it made it in one piece. These are truly great sounding instruments. ;)

Welcome to the club. The most awesome guitar. When you've finished deafening the neighbours you should try some silk'n'steels or gypsy strings and you will be amazed at how the ute is as sweet a sounding a guitar as there is when the volume is reduced. It is just the most wonderful guitar.
Tho' if you think the ute is loud, you should meet the twelve.

Fred - what were you thinking? This was your favourite guitar for so long.

Schroeder,

I left a set of Savarez's on it, included a new set and some extra-light Rotosounds. It is in "reduced volume mode" now. Wait till he puts a shim in it and a set of Phos-Bronze lights.... I'm figuring the crater will fill in with ground water and Jim will havea nice fishin' hole out front :D :p :D :p

All I can say is that it wasn't my first choice to sell it, but Jim IS worthy of it. When I'm out riding (especially with my little girl), I don't miss it at all.
