Has anyone played a wood top Adamas before? I think in '88 Ovation made 50 wood top Adamas 681 models for export to Japan only. The sitka was supposed to be seasoned for at least one hundred years. I saw one on the bay and another overseas. Lost Art also has a similar prototype. I have played a 1587 deep cb and a 1187 reissue and am curious about the woodtop in terms of sound and feel. Any feedback is well appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Maliboo,

you are talking about the NV681-ARB.

I know of one member on this board who has one. Maybe he is chiming in to tell more.

Best regards,
Kurt

I've seen one as well, a shallow bowl, wood-topped Adamas, with airline tags bearing the name Charles W. Kaman, currently belonging to a fellow OFC member.

Kurt, you are correct. If you can prompt your friend, I would love to hear his feedback on the nv681? I have played a 1587 deep cb and an 1187 reissue. Thanks.

Actually the BEST sounding wood topped adamas is that Dreadnaught size that Al has. That thing is amazing. Sadly I don't think there is enough IOU's in the world to pry it out of his hands. Dave

There were a few made back before the elites, less than 10 I think. Those would be the ones to get. Doesn't Sam have one of those?
I don't recall the Nakao ones but we were always doing things like that for them so it's possible.

That's Rocky's alma mater.

P.S. I played a wood topped Adamas a couple of months back. It was very sweet. But then I played the next guitar handed to me, which was an original slothead. More sweet. ;) Al's WTAD is killer.

APHRODISIAC (OYSTERS)
(Shel Silverstein / Pat Dailey)

Now, listen to me, folks...
Hear what I say.
You got to eat oysters everyday
They'll put your love life back on track
They're nature's own aphrodisiac.

Ohh, ohhh... yes it's true
What a little oyster can do for you.
Ohh, ohhh... ain't it fun
Here's some things them oysters done...

They made Jim Beam
They made Allen Thick
They made Jonathan Swift
And they made Gracie Slick
They made Victor Mature
And they made Tom Petty
They started Willie Waylon
And they got Helen Reddy.
They made Tom Cruise
They made Oscar Wilde
They gave Gary Hart
But they gave Gomer Piles
They made William Hurt
They made Lucille Ball
They made Wilson Picket
And that ain't all.

Ohh, ohhh... yes it's true
What a little oyster can do for you.
Ohh, ohhh... ain't it fun
Here's some more them oysters done.

They made Stevie Wonder
And they made old John Wayne
They made Saul Bellow
And caused Thomas Paine
Turned Clint Black
And turned Barry White
Made Doris' Day
And Gladys' Knight.
They gave Bob Hope
They gave Percy Faith
They made Marvin Gaye
But they made George Straight
They made Bobby's Short
And Lester's Flatt
And hey... they even did more than that.

Ohh, ohhh... yes it's true
What a little oyster can do for you.
Ohh, ohhh... ain't it fun
Here's some more them oysters done.

They got George Bush
They made Bozo a Clown
They got Bobby Bare
And made Ezra Pound
They made Gallo Wine
They made Merle Haggard
They Made Andy Devine
They made Jimmy Swagger
They made Rich Little
And made Hughie Long
They made BB King
And they made Neil's Armstrong
And if you ask my wife,
She'll tell you quite gaily
Best of all they made old Pat Daily.

Ohh, ohhh... yes it's true
What a little oyster can do for you.
Ohh, ohhh... ain't it fun
That's all about oysters
Now we're done.
