Samba Pa Ti if you've just met....she melts.
However, Anything Eurythmics has worked in this house for... well, a couple decades anyway.
If you come to the door and hear Annie Lennox, go home. No one's answering the door. |

I slowed it way down, broke the cadence and sang in my upper register. I used a reel to reel tape recorder to work on my arrangements, and there was a tape of this one in the pile.
It wasn't until years later that I found out my room mate used to bring girls to the apartment while I was playing gigs and would put on my tape of this tune to get them in the mood. THAT son of a bitch scored using MY damn tape. What really pissed me off is that it never occured to me to do the same thing. |

Unchained Melodies, a number of songs from Bobby Vinton, In My Room by the Beach Boys, Angel Baby by Rosie and the Originals, and Herman's Hermits version of The End of the World were car favorites. That was one of the advantages of coming to age in the 1960's. The cars were huge and nobody cared anything about 8 track tape piracy. Nowadays, it is romantic classical music and light Italian arias. That's what happens when you wed a classically trained operatic singer. |

And I can't believe the spector of Kenny G was raised!! Maybe that explains the slump I had in the late 90's... then again, I would rather not "make-out" than subject myself to a looping Kenny G wafting in from the background...
So... for your listening enjoyment... Kenny G?? |

Location: Omaha, NE | There was a great line on "The Partridge Family" (of all shows) regarding Ravel's Bolero:
Younger Kid: "Who was Ravel and what's the big deal about this song"
Susan Dey: "Well, you know about the birds and the bees, right"
younger Kid: "Yeah"
Dey: "Well, Ravel is the one who gave them the idea."
One thing I find so interesting is how it seems like some of the best slow-dance/hook-up songs we play are ones that if you really listen to them are anything but romantic: "Let Her Cry" (guy singing about his junkie girlfriend), "Drive" (guy singing about his alcoholic girlfriend) and "Every Breath You Take" (stalker song).

Isn't it funny that we're talking about songs here yet we're (almost) all pointing to a video site?
I like Pink Martini's version of Bolero.. and in keeping with the trend, here it is on youtube . Or Annie Lennox or Cowboy Junkies or Van Morrison or Leonard Cohen , or or or. My wife would vote for Chris Isaak. |

PS::: except for OZWATTO who is currently quiting smoking, You OZWATTO could have sex 4 times during the songs.See there is a benefit to giving up those smokes.GWB |

It'd be interesting to send the lyrics of to someone else to hear what they would come-up with for a tune.

She was eating dinner with her parents and siblings. I wanted to impress them all with how well (I thought) I could play some nice dinner music, so I cranked up the amp and proceeded to honk out "My Baby Does the Hanky Panky" by Tommy James and the Shondells. Song selection was questionable at best, even for a 15 year old, but the timing couldn't have been worse. |

this song came out a year after i got out of high school. i had just joined the army reserve and was flying to fort ord, california for basic training. i was missing my sweetheart badly and this song was on the airplane's playlist. her photo was in my lap and a triple ginger lei she had given me at honolulu airport was around my neck. this song came on and there was no way i could fight back the flood of tears! |
