The Folklore from Randy is really nice, couple of small dings/scratches but a great 3 footer..sounds nice now.. but the 10s have got to go... 11s or higher next, plus looks like the saddle is pretty slotted so new saddle going in as well... there's plenty of relief in the neck so new saddle... heavier strings, then maybe a tweak on the t/r in a day or two.. neck is nice, and I'm getting adddicted to slot-head 12 fretters
The Black Breadwinner was a great surprise!
no dings or chips/scratches anywhere, neck is nice, frets have almost zero wear, no missing or non-original parts and nothing cracked. original case, with both internal covers intact.. and the preamp/notch filter is in fine working order...
anyway back to playing and string-swapping..

yep... my mom's up in Ohio... Cincinasty... and it's 96 or 97 there...
Char's wandered into the livingroom a couple of times.. was re-stringing the 1114 the first time with the bw hanging behind me... and was playing the bw the second time through...and the 1114 was on the stand beside me... didn't say a word and just walked over and gave me a kiss.
and walked back to her office..
she'll notice in a day or two.. I tell you it's those darn packing peanuts and bubble wrap that gives us away..

| been playing with the new babies... the breadwinner is as close to new as a 25-30 year old electric can get... no dings or scratches on the body or neck, no rub marks, all the chrome is bright, no oxidation or pitting or rust anywhere.. even the foam in the battery compartment is soft and pliable instead of falling to dust when touched.. some light scratches on the pickguard and numbers are a little worn on the vol knob... but is definitely a closet classic. and plays really nice.
the folklore has had some surgery in the past.. found the remains of an old piezo pickup under the saddle and the lead wire that goes through the bridge/top has been glued/sealed in..so for now it stays there till I can have it properly removed.
and looks like they had an endpin jack in at one time... now a couple of washers sandwiching the strap button to the body.. other than that is really nice and plays well... nice natural top and lots of tone which will get better with some heavier strings once I can fix the saddle issues. looks like the saddle was notched to compensate for the piezo(which is now just a shim).. so will definitely need a new saddle.
