| Hi guys: I'm leaving to get my new (used)Pacemaker in an hour.. remember my old one had an accident..(Prev post)
Ive been intouch with John at Ovation (quick responce btw)and he recommends either the Op pro or Pro studio, so I'm sold on either of these. I've been looking at the specs and they have very different response curves, esp in th hi end, 12k v 3.6 k. and different pre shapes.
I'm not able to hear these before purchase, so I'd like some feedback from the experts (you guys)!
I do a single acoustic show in small clubs. The 1615-1 Ive been using with old electronics was very bright, so I found myself rolling off the top end and boosting the lows sometimes causing low end feedback.
Any ideas which pre amp is preferred? Also re the install, am I going to have to use a router on the saddle or can I get a "thin line" type transducer to fit under my saddle on the 1115? probably a better question to put to John, but I thought I'd throw it out there!

Location: Orange County, California | You will LOVE the compressor in the OP-Pro Studio!!!
Have them replace the bridge and use the original style (not the thinline) pickup. You can hear a difference in string separation and overall balance.
I think regardless of pre-amps this is what makes Ovations sound so good. | |

Location: CT | The 1615 had the original Ovation Piezo bridge, not the thinline pickup. The 1615, as well as all the old O's with volume only controll all sound very bright. The addition of the tone knob was a blessing. Either of the OP-Pros, or anything with an eq for that matter will make it sound much better. If they are similarly priced, go for the Studio. | |
