I don't get all this stuff about how bad Britney Spear looked at the MTV Video Music Awards. I didn't actually see the performance, so I'll take at face value the reviews that she had a bad night.

But don't tell me that this is not an attractive woman.

There's nothing wrong with a woman who doesn't look like she's about to pass out from starvation. I think she looks great! It's just that damn singing! Oy!

That story (or Lindsays' or Paris' or Nicoles' or Taras' or...) just gets more and more sad but yet we keep churning them out. Just another scenario where we should protect the kids from us bnecause we're obviously not smart enough to know when too much is too much.

I saw her performance on tv. That pose is an exception. She was not in performance shape/condition, and her choice of costume was not appropriate for her body now. Alicia Keys for example I would say is similar sized, and she looked fantastic - she was not dressed like that. Britney exposed her body flaws. She would have looked great if she just wore some clothes.

If they're going to continue to make fools out of themselves, they should expect to be made fun of. I have very little sympathy for people with more money than brains. It's a circus that they choose to be a part of.

All I see is a slew of Marilyn Monroe wannabe's and I wonder which one is going to be in the headlines first. Could she talk me into a back alley? Absolutely. But I still think it's a sad story waiting to be told.

And not waiting long either.

Sad thing is, most of these people they seem so shallow that once you really get into them you're out the other side.

We are spirts, in the material world.

My point is that they're practically bred that way. They're taken as kids and effectively ruined in the name of fame and fortune. For every Ron Howard out there, there's 100 Britney's. I do feel bad for them because I honestly don't think they know any better. Surrounded by yes people and able to afford whatever they see. It's a recipe for disaster even if you have the talent. That just becomes secondary. I read today that Sarah Silverman, the comic, quipped after Brit's "performance", 'How incredible was that? 25 years old and she's accomplished all she's ever going to."

Hope the cash is worth it.

SNAFU...
I guess if there is any good thing that could be said is that she actually earned the money and fame she is blowing, unlike some of those girls she hangs out with who inherated it. I guess if I had her looks and (former) talent, she would look like Mother Theresa compared to the crap I'd probably be into.

She can afford the therapy and, when she's really ready for it, she has proved she has/had the discipline.

Now, if only someone could help her dream bigger.

Back in 2000 or so a co-worker and I were discussing "what will become of...." and of course Britney's name came up along with other pop stars of the day. I said I didn't think she would be able to make the transition from jailbait sex symbol to adult sex symbol.

I didn't think she'd turn into white trash in the process though.

I'm wondering what Britney did to deserve all this grief, it's not like she actually went out with Cliff.

personally, i like britney.
I don't like her music, but i like to listen to her voice.
I think she is in situation where she is, because people around her are pigs. it's sad, because probable she don't have even one true friend. every person she meets, sells news about her to newspapers etc.
i think if she would really get a chance to live normal life, she'd be good mother, and - probably - in years she would develop long lasting career like celine dion. but since she married to this... Kevin Fendersomething she is on her way down. i hope someone will help her, not looking at her wallet and - equally important - not looking at her as Britney Spears, pop icon, but as a young woman, human who needs help

I've seen the pics of coconut bras and grass skirts; this girl ain't got nothin' to be ashamed of!

Ok, ok, maybe a few things( :) ), but she ain't the only one in this world!

Cut her some slack, that was a gutsy thing to do. And I think she should be applauded for showing all the young women they should be proud of the way they are. That was a big thumb to the nose against the typical Hollywood stereo type of what beauty is.

Good for her!

In 10 years, this will be the 'fall from grace' part of her story on the biography channel. By then I'm betting she'll be back, slimmer and hotter than ever.
