| Hello all,
I have that other thread about the Balladeer 1117-4 Confusion http://www.ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=50...
As I am learning about the older (70s and earlier) Ovations it seems like most of them can be had for less than $900 and the nice examples from 90s and newer are $1500 and more.
Are the 90s and newer better guitars better made better sounding?
Are the old ones just not old enough yet?

it follows no real logic as it would with dealing with vintage martin, gibson, fender etc |

Location: Canada | Price of used always depend on condition. I would expect that older guitars tend to be in worse shape than newer. However a 70s custom legend in great shape may be priced higher than a 90s custom legend in similar condition. |

| Hi there,
I'm trying to find out more about my own rather old ovation, which sounds amazing, btw, but doesn't seem to match up with any in the list. It's a six digit serial no, 157636. Would u explain this please, should be a 12 string.?

Location: When?? | The serial number doesn't have anything to do with a particular model (at least not from that era) or whether a 6 or 12 string. It looks from the photo that the inside label is missing, so going by a visual and the fret markers, I agree with Standingovation that it is likely a Custom Balladeer.. and seeing the volume knob I would guess a model 1612-4, built in 1979. |
