A few years back I was gifted an old ovation from a friend. It's a 1975 1614-4 folklore. Now that i have been getting back into playing I'm looking get It back into good playing condition. Even with probably almost 50 year old strings it sounds really good! (He bought it to learn and never did ). I have a couple questions. The one bridge saddle is cracked on the pickup. Do they still manufacture them ? Also how do I restring steel strings onto a slothead headstock is there a trick. Iv never owned anything with slotted headstock. I absolutely love how wide this neck is! any other info or facts about this model guitar would be very appreciated!

Yes, they still make the bridge saddle pickups.

HERE is a video on changing strings on a National steel string resonator.
Not an Ovation... But one of the best videos I have seen on re-stringing a slotted headstock.

Here is Another on a Collings.

I hope that this is helpful.
