Hi all,
Older amateur player who, for probably 50 years, thought Ovations would be the LAST guitars I would want. The round back always seemed strange and felt uncomfortable when I would pick up a friends. And what is that, plastic? Naturally, a couple weeks ago, I found a '76 Balladeer 1111-4 for a ridiculous price. And I LOVE IT? It needs a good cleaning and strings, there are cracks on the top and the tuners were replaced at some point with Schallers. But the action is low, the electronics work great (after market?) and it sounds GREAT. What a booming sound. I played it the first day and four hours went by! I AM A BELIEVER!
I will try and post some pics. She ain't pretty but she's beautiful. I'm wondering what to do about the top cracks, have them repaired or just seal them with some kind of glue etc. Anyway, that's down the road. Can't believe I misjudged Ovations for all those years. Glad I found this site.
Take care everybody. Stay safe.
