Location: atlanta | The new Foo Fighters cd (out 9/21) features a fingerpicking duet with Dave Grohl and my daughter Kaki King. Written by Mr. Grohl, the song is titled "The Ballad of the Beaconsfield miners."
The song was inspired by two Tasmanian miners who were trapped underground for two weeks and, while awaiting rescue, requested an iPod with Foo Fighters music on it to help lift their spirits. Grohl was alerted of the situation by a staffer at the band's Australian record company and wrote a note to the two men.
"I was in tears, man," he recalls. "I said, 'Hey guys, it's Dave. You're in our thoughts and prayers. When you get out, there's two tickets and two cold beers waiting for you wherever you want to see the band.'"

Needless to say, Kaki was very flattered to be asked by Mr. Grohl to do the duet which they recorded in January in Los Angeles. She used her Adamas II 1581-5 prototype for the recording.
Best to all--

Definitely hear those banjo rolls ala Cripple Creek. Nice tune. Doesn't sound like a foo fighter tune (to me).
Good for the foos that they recognize her.
I will no longer fight foo because of this. |

Location: Flushing, MI | Good for David Grohl! I've never been a fan of his, or the Foo Fighters, although I've never really checked them out. I guess I couldn't get past the Nirvana connection. Regardless, this was a great thing for him to do, and definately from the heart.
And Kaki, she's just all around great! I always wish her the best of luck in whatever she's doing. She deserves it! I hope this becomes a major career boost for her.
So were there any Ovations being played on that track? |

Btw, there was a headline on cnn.com today. Said "Jackson Accuses Obama Of Being Too White". I was disappointed to find out it was Jesse, not Whack-o.

Aside from playing (and hand doublin') ... has Kaki been approached to score a movie soundtrack?
I think she'd be great in this venue... |

Let me know if you want to send one of you-know-who's guitars to the Orlando 10/27 jam. I could make room for it.
