| Hello folks!
At 61 years young I am a new guitar player and have recently purchased an older Ovation 1224-4. How did I end up with an vintage Ovation you ask? Well when I was in grade school the music teacher had an Ovation guitar and I was amazed at the sound that came from it. I never forgot that. Now, I have my own, however, it was supposed to have nylon strings on it and when I got it was strung with metal and there are two cracks in the neck and parallel with it. Can one replace the neck? Should I take it to a pro and have them fix the cracks? Can they be fixed? It only cost me a hundred dollars Canadian so it is not a HUGE loss if it cannot be salvaged but I am hoping I can do something with it to save it. If the neck CAN be replaced, can I put a neck on it that supports it being strung with metal. Thank you for taking the time to read these ramblings of the world's oldest guitar rookie. |

You will get more responses in "General Posting" or elsewhere.
Many members have repaired many Ovations here.
Someone should have a suggestion.

| Hi Arthur. Thanks for the response (and the upgrade). I figured the only way I could get a better response was with that but I had no idea how to get it. Now I will continue my quest. |
