Hi,

Hope you're all doing OK during these terrible times...

Could one of you decipher this signature on the label of an Adamas 1688-5 12 strings?

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

C W Kaman II .....Charles William Kaman II....Beal
Bill Kaman the son of founder Charles Kaman signed many of the labels on Adamas guitars

Oh-oh. It looks like the dreaded CW (Bill) Kaman signature that devalued those guitars. Quick, sell it to me for $100.

Just kidding about the devaluation part. It's an old joke around here. I'm sure Beal spent a lot of time over the years signing those labels.

Dang... I was going to guess Cliff Clavin...

If Beal is anything like me the flowing script left about 20 years ago and I'm nearly a Doctor by now.

Hi and thank for the clear comments...

Serial 8831, I date it to 1994?

So about 27 years old and it looks pretty good...

Well, I don't have any Fender or Gibson signed by their founders or CEO, so I guess it's a plus!!!

I'll phone the dealer and see if we can do a deal...

All the very best from Patrick

No Moody...

I'm thinking of buying it!!!!

It's in a pawn shop, but a tad higher than my pockets tell me I can afford...

Roughly $2,750.00

The Adamas 1688 is the best 12 string you could hope for
If you can come up with the cash go for it they are hard to find
If you decide to pass let us know where its at I know somebody who would love one

Yes, this is one of the best 12 string guitars ever made. Just add 10.000 USD and you may find a better one, but I´m not sure. Here in Europe, this would be called cheap.

Fully agree with Michel, jump on it while it last so cheap, luckily you can even drive to that UK pawnshop unlike us, americans, germans and russians ;-).

Best,

Alex, Moscow

In addition to that this guitar has the resonance number 87 which means that the resonance frequency of the top is quite low. The guitar should produce a tremendous sound with profound basses. I once had an "87" 6 string version of this guitar.

Out of curiosity, without label there is not way to date an Adamas?

Well I did not get it, someone paid what the pawnshop wanted without haggling!!!

Never mind, there will be others and my 2 Adamas won't feel jealous!!!
