For a while now, I’ve wanted a 1615 because it’s what Brian May used for live “Love of My Life” and “‘39.” Equipboard.com says he used a 1658 for ‘39, but it doesn’t look to be the case as what he’s using in the video given as evidence is a lot less ornate (no carved bridge, simpler inlays, etc).

In any case, I finally found one on FB Marketplace and the seller agreed to a price of $600. As this is my first Ovation, I was wondering if there was anything I should be looking out for when I inspect it? The guitar does have the usual body crack that old guitars are prone to, but other than that, the seller says it’s in good condition.

Also, based on the pictures, is there anything you can discern about the guitar? In doing my research, it looked like the sunburst paint job was indicative of a later stage (early 80’s) 1615, but I don’t know if that’s just anecdotal.

Lastly, would you consider $600 a decent price assuming it’s in good shape?

Thanks for your help! I’m excited to be part of the community!

Ok, so after 30 minutes of searching, I’m unable to figure out how to attach photos... ????‍??

Can I do it from my phone, or does it have to have an html link?

What is your question?

If you are asking if that particular 1615 is worth $600, only you can decided that.
