Patch all done??
Hey nerdydave, I think Patch announced his retirement from OFC Calendar production last year. Know what you mean about missing the calendar, Bernie! I still have all my previous years calendars and lust over all of your Os!

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Yes, I've retired and will miss it as well. It's gotten to the point where I have to pick up so much extra work anymore, that I truly just ran out of time for a project this size. And it doesn't help that I have a conscience that can't live with just throwing something together. Every member here deserves better than that. Even if I had planned on doing the calendars this year, having Covid force all of my courses online (Teaching is my part-time gig.) would have killed any aspirations I had anyway. You wouldn't believe how much additional work is required to convert all of my in-class materials and build modules to any reasonable standard! And it's not like I had loads of warning or support from the colleges to do it. Still, I wish I could keep the calendar project going. It was something I quite enjoyed. Hopefully someone in the future can pick up the torch though. If they do, I'll be on the buyers' list for certain. In the meantime, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy! What a crazy year! |

I am still willing to take up the yoke, but it's not going to happen for this year's calendar. |

Yay Dan! Coming from your shop it's bound to be a great product, and a worthy torch passing from Patch's awesome work.
(but I bet you still cringed a little when you hit the submit button on that one) |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | I hate to admit it, but the numbers dropped each year, although that's not the reason I had to back out. The project was always a labor of love for our brands, both Ovation and the OFC. But they take considerable time to put together, or least put together well, and time is something I run short of anymore. In an ideal world, I started asking for photos in early summer, although life can banjax even that kind of lead time very easily. Here's hoping the idea can be resurrected in the future. |

Problem is, Patch, you've been TOO good. Heck, anyone can throw together a Kinko-Fed-Ex calendar, but it would be awfully disheartening to take the shame of having the quality go into the dumper compared to yours. Your painstaking workmanship clearly showed in the product, and would definitely be tough act to follow. |

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Thanks LOF. Like I said, it was fun, and as cliched as it sounds, it was also a bit of a labor of love, or at least loyalty. I mentioned it in detail the first time Fender shut things down: No other company would have indulged the whims of a nobody social worker like me the way John and Kim , and by extension Ovation, did. There is no way I could have assembled a collection of guitars as I now possess without them. I felt liked I owed them a little bit, and some of that dedication worked its way into the calendars. It's gonna be an honest and strange distraction not seeing one on the wall come January. |

Location: Colorado | patch and love....yep....The standard is high - and rightfully so...I could take 2 hours, send it off to the web, and we would have something that resembles the insurance agent freebie - I want to use a real printer - carefully edit each page... and take the time to do the artwork correctly....Let's do this....I will soon set up a drop box to send photos to and start the process....when we get a dozen or so pages worth - I will find a printer a cut above Shutterfly and Kinkos...then I will send them off to print....since it is custom, the months and years won't matter....Maybe in a month or so I might even have a contact name at GEWA....I don't plan to even break even...just do it right.
