| ... After several years in Paris, France I came back to my home town, Rome, Italy. During my research for a large neck'd Ovation I've been able to score what seems a nice Ovation 1614. Problem is that the guitar is in Paris, so I've asked my ex g/friend to make an offer for me and the guy accepted. Unfortunately the guitar is sold with a gigbag so I have to find a way to have it shipped to my address. What a story.... anyway, here is a link ti the ad. Question for you experts: any red flag you see here? https://www.leboncoin.fr/instruments_de_musique/1850872278.htm/ Thanks. Mimmo.

Location: undisclosed | What is travel like there now? I'd mask up and take the train to see an old girlfriend, toss in a Folklore and it is a no brainer. I love my 1614, a natural fit for me, I wish I'd tried one years back.
If you have to ship for new girlfriend reasons take all the usual precautions, tension off the strings, lots of packing and extra space, double box? If it is close to a train ticket shipping I'd go with option 1. |

| That's a good answer Cavalier, thanks for chiming in.
Unfortunately it is not feasible, the price would be crazy expensive (I could almost buy another Ovation for the same money!) so all I can do is to hope that everything will go fine.
My ex g/friend works on logistics, she knows the transporters and I will tell her how to protect the guitar.
The fact that you didn't comment on the guitar makes me think that you didn't find anything suspicious or wrong with it and that's fine for me.
The adventure begins..

| Have you thought about having her buy a case before shipping (unless you already have one)? |

| Hi Bob! Yes indeed, I've tried to find a case in Paris but they seem to be incredibly expensive, about 200 euros and having bought my flat cash three months ago I am very short on money... I am trying to find a used one, mante with some luck... fingers crossed! |

| UPDATE
One week after the seller accepted my offer he's not been able to fix a meeting with my ex. And she told me he's not polite. The ad is still online and he put another one two days ago, for the very same guitar! I think it's too much, if he doesn't want to sell it I'm OK with this. Maybe one day I'll find another Folklore for sale from a more serious guy.
So - once more - thanks guys for your help on this. Much appreciated. |

| Yes indeed, Cavalier! Luckily my ex paid through the website, so there is a sort of insurance: this way the seller would gets the money just after the buyer confirms that everyting went well.
She contacted the website saying that she wanted to get the money back and already got a confirmation email from them, so in the next few days I'll get a total refund and that's all.
I was so happy about that Folklore, the hunt for another one begins... |

Location: When?? | I sure do miss the days when every town had local, family-owned music stores with 40+ guitars on the wall rack, and a color catalog on the counter with order forms for guitars that aren't on the rack, and the first thing sensed when walking in was the smell of wood.
