Thomann is one of the biggest online music equipment dealer in Europe. He is selling new LX-Custom-Elites and LX-Custom-Legends right now. And there were two new models called 2715LTD-VIP FOLKLORE 12string and a
2714LTD-VIP FOLKLORE 6string with currently mo picture, which are, looking at the price, also USA made...
I thought only Adamas guitars are still USA made.....

The LX models are probably new old stock I have heard the custom shop is doing special runs Damon from Red Blanket guitars mentioned on farcebook about getting a run of US made custom legends done.

I saw the Folklore 6 and 12 on a a few Euro sites and wondered why the don't offer them in the US. To me this pairing makes a lot more sense than some current US offerings. It looks like you could ship them here but again why not make them here? I'd suggest subcontracting Godin who has value and assembly details worked out and send them a few truck loads of bowls.

At the moment $2476,50 for the 12er, $2360,00.... price in Germany without shipping (Thomann ships free in Germany).....
I thought they were made in USA, because an avarage AX model is $1000 less!!!
I'd take them both for 500€ each more if build in the USA, but not for $500 less build in Korea or China!!!!
I was extremely pissed on with the Sambora signature ....

For me it is the concept, a current reworking of 2 great guitars. I'd like to know if they figured out the Euro market. I never really contemplated the Folklore till I started playing a 12 fret wide neck antique Swedish Bjarton which really impressed me. I found a suitable 1614 Folklore from the 70s to revive and haven't been disappointed, My 1115 Pacemaker was also a stumble into guitar. The 12 fret body join really adds, well, Body., Volume, Tone.......
The preamps I could probably do without, I'd love to see Ovation offer the old 1 and stack knob FETs again. Nothing like firing up something from the 70s and have it still sound great. Processing I prefer to add myself. It is neat to see that niche addressed, if Europe has a demand for it I'll be paying attention to that scene in the future.

If you like these models or not is just personal opinions and everybody has theirs. From a business standpoint I worry that the $2k guitar market is very competitive with some really outstanding guitars. I do hope that these will compete and the stigma of bring built in Korea will not hurt. I guess to the Europe market it's just an import model no matter of it came from USA or Asia. Ovation has some good people back on board so they have probably figured this all out in advance. In any case, these are very pretty guitars.

Yes to get on board with the original concept the price point would have to come down, that is why I suggested Godin for a North America joint effort, same with a more basic preamp. For sure the guitars with those features have already been built in the USA and with some looking you can get a good vintage Pacemaker and Folklore both for less than the price of 1 of these recreations. I won't be giving the real thing up but I'm glad to see someone make the effort to offer these models again.

I really like the look of these guitars. The only thing I would have done differently is to use the new string anchor point introduced at NAMM, which has the strings anchored in the top instead of the bridge. I don't read or speak Gerrman, but it looks like the top of the 6 string is torrified. If the braces are as well, then that guitar should have a ton of sound.....

Paul, the top and braces are torrified on both guitars, so the description. When I'm on a visit to my son in law, I'll try to get a trip to Thomann. It's about 60km from him and I'll try them out..... There is nothing wrong with the guitars, except: "Made in Korea"..... and the price for that. Just my thinking!
I'm very proud and happy all my Ovation's are USA made, except the bass and the doubbleneck and for this one I thought it would have been made in USA for that price. But my bad, I've not checked it out before buying. And the bass, I had an USA made and sold it..... AARRRRGGGGG!!!!

Another question for me is: Are they really only available in Europe? The label says: Special European Edition, but.... Does anybody found one in the USA? Al, can you get them? And what is the price??
I'm asking this because of the 50th Anny strategy..... which is not a good one in my oppinion! If they are ONLY were sold in Europe, this would be great one to have in the USA....

Acoustic Review featured these new LX guitars here...
I really like Ben Morgan Brown's reviews. You all may have already seen these, but thought I'd share them in-case anybody is interested. Pricing aside, I must say, I'm pretty impressed with these instruments. Gotta admit I am definitely biased toward 12-Fretters.

A torrified top and braces really ups the quality of an Ovation. Remember that in 1976, a big marketing point was that the carbon graphite top was like hundred year old spruce. Next to me, I've got a 1117 that Dan Savage re-topped with torrified addy spruce and braces (A braced) and I can tell you that the sound is much bigger and deeper than a standard 1117. Combine that with a 12 fret layout which puts the bridge more towards the center of guitar, and I suspect that the sound is huge. Maybe they are expensive, but it's not surprising that they sold. The only improvements I'd like to see would be the new bridge and US bolt on neck.

Usually we planed to visit my son in law last weekend and I tried to visit Thomann for checking out the two guitars, but the Corona law made this impossible. It is not allowed to travel til Dec. 20th. Now one is sold out.... unbelievable for me!! Well I'm disappointed. I wanted so badly to check them out, because almost you Guy's in the USA let us know what is good or not. And now for these Guitars I have planned to do that for all you overseas.....

Thomann has both back in the market, but unfortunately the corona rules don't let us travel. His eldest son's birthday is tomorrow and we have not seen them now for more than a year. Frustrating times for families in different counties....
