Hi, I hope everybody is doing well and staying healthy!!

As for myself, I'm ok. But there are regulations by law, that nobody has to go out of the house, exept for buying food, visit a doctor or go to a pharmacy. Who must go for the job needs a permit. So if anybody whants to visit me me here in Germany, don't do it right now, you can get in trouble...

There are some people still out-and-about here in Portland, Oregon, USA.
But traffic is pretty slow here.
I did go shopping yesterday. I didn't "stock-up" but I got food for a week or so.
Later today, I will go outside for fresh air.
Near my house is the Moda Center Arena and Veterans' Memorial Coliseum...
Both are closed for Covid. So, I have been going over there to play guitar as the sun shines.
(I don't have a back-yard) So, I enjoy the trees and flowers over there.

Everybody stay safe.

Things are starting to tighten up down here in Australia as well. They've closed a few of the more popular beaches in Sydney as too many people were on them, too close together.

However, the general population are not confined to self isolation yet. But I guess that will come in time. People who've recently returned from overseas are required to self isolate.

Only Australian citizens or permanent residents and their immediate relatives are allowed to enter the country, along with New Zealand citizens who live in Australia, of which there are many, are allowed to enter the country.

I expect things to change down here though as infections are on the rise. The situation is changing every day.

Stay safe.

I live in Moline Illinois USA and am fine but the state is going to "shelter in place" no one out and about except for necessities, work if your open which I was laid off yesterday and medical needs, starts 5PM today no fines i've heard of but I'm going to have a lot of time to sit at home and play guitar.

I hope all the OFCers stay healthy and get through this OK

Governor said we should all kick back. Well, heck, you don't have to ask me twice for that. For today's round I had 12 alpine ski events saved up on the DVR, so I rolled a few rainy day logs onto the fire and reclined for a solid four hours of downhill and super G with guitar in lap (1771-2). I'm just glad we did our typical 6-week grocery stock a couple of days before the rush started. I don't necessarily fear the virus-- but more fear the nuts in the stores who fear the virus. I am sending great wishes to all fellow OFC pals that you and your loved ones are able to avoid both! Sad condolences to anyone worldwide who has not.

PS: Somebody please post something good in the For Sale forum. When are they mailing the checks?

Don't think so. I read an article that one of the amendments currently under negotiation in the bipartisan committee trying to work out the differences in order that the bill may become law is that no one is allowed to buy guitars with their checks!!

Took the Ute up to the cabin. Can't get much more sheltered in place than that. I only saw about 10 people the last 4 days until we started the drive back. The Ute got a long overdue rehash of all my Jim Croce tunes.

It's in the playlist. It might be the first one I learned, at least he intro. I never learned the rest until StephenT sent me a tab. I need to use all this extra time to remember the old ones and learn a few "new" ones. Ed Sheeran's "Supermarket Flowers" is on the to do list.

I broke a couple of fingernails pulling up carpet at the cabin. It puts a damper on my fingerpicking. That's my new excuse.

I wish I had a new excuse. Our cabin is 1,100 miles from where I sit, snowed in I'm sure, and I don't play any better there than I do here anyway, so I guess I''ll just have to default back to 'no talent' as usual.

Love O Fair what are you looking for???
I was laid off work last friday and who knows when things will get back to normal so having more guitars that any non-professional needs I'm thinking about letting a few go to new homes.

What would catch you eye an Adamas 1680 slothead perhaps

Or a Nakoa Crafstman N768 Elite

Or how about a Custom Legend 1759 12 string

hallo, I'm Tiziano, I live in Italy, in one of the most front-line places: Veneto. Our Healthcare (hospitals etc.) is considered an excellence. Well we are collapsing. Let alone in places where Healthcare was not efficient. I've been at home for a couple of weeks. It is only a matter of time for you. You are many. Move as little as possible. It is a tragic thing. It's a war. I know that you pay a lot for health care. Stay indoors.

2WD... very sorry to hear about your lay-off! Hopefully a revolving door will open soon and let you back in! But it doesn't mean that outlandish dreams aren't still free, so still waiting for you to part with that Caddie green 1769 for charity. (I did say "outlandish", right?)
In the meantime.. it's all about that check.. 'bout that check.. no money.

PS: That N768 looks so very yummy! Are the eppies on those surface or inlaid?

LOF thanks for your kind words hopefully it won't take to long for things to improve for us all

The N768 is a 1992 and has overlaid/outie Epis

WRT the Caddie CL I'd sell it for the right price but I'm looking to be the benefactor of charitable considerations right now not the donor.....but keep dreaming.

I was staying-in before, following the "Stay Home Request"

Just got back from almost 3 weeks in Seattle, where it all started in this country. Most are taking the stay in place order very seriously and it seems to be working. Lots of people out running and walking, but very careful about staying at least 6 feet away.
Our daughter has 2 foster kids under 2 and the day care shut down, so it was impossible to get any work done at home. We decided that grandparents were essential services. Didn't get over to see Damon or any of the others in the area. I did get our daughter's 87 Collector cleaned and set up nicely. Plays great, but it didn't impress the 2 year old.

Well, glad y’all are hanging in.
We went to Vermont for a new grand baby. 3/16. I got there 3/10. Just got home today after 29 hours on
the road. The 5 weeks reminded me why I don’t live in New England anymore. Especially Verfknmont

Congratulations, Grandpa!

Consider also, with everyone being cooped up, along about 9 months from now we can expect a whole new baby boom.

My daughter rejects the baby boom theory, at least for parents who are staying at home with kids they already have. No one will want any more kids after this.

I'm with Mark ... I don't think you'll see a boom in births nine months from now.

I mean think about it ... you're shut in 7x24 in each others faces and all over each others nerves and "Oh honey, I've got a good idea, let's go have sex." Yeah let me know how that works out. Instead of seeing a boom in new births I think you're more likely to see a boom in divorces.

On a related note ... according to statista.com the internet traffic at pornhub and xvids is up 21% over the last 4 weeks.

Yep.. old guys like us think like that. For those shacking up in their 20's... hmmmm... not so much. Being bored only tends to heighten it, and if there's a boom it'll probably more from unguarded mistakes than planned ones. But I'm definitely in agreement on a correlation to porn and divorce for the oldsters. Murders, too. In fact, if just one more time today my furloughed wife comes in and plops down on the sofa in my home office while I'm trying to work.. well..

Hi Bernie. Best wishes for your mom (mine went two years ago). The important thing is that you stay at home. What do they say around you? Here I am afraid that it will be difficult for the economy. We were in bad shape before, let alone now. I am afraid that we will lose the well-being of these past years. We do not see this Europe well. There are countries like Holland that have GDP which is half of Lombardy, live by Tax Heavens and come to make us moral ... well ... let's hope well ...

My dad's 93 and is having a really tough time with social distancing, but if the virus gets into his senior center it will wipe them all out. My wife's dad just died 3 weeks ago. The test for coronavirus was negative, but the tough thing was that no one could visit him at the hospital. He was a very social person, so that was really hard on him and his family. Only 10 people could be at the funeral, so most of the family couldn't go.

Oh Mark, that is hard to read... condolences to your family! Just checked a mistake of me: My Mom is 92, not 82 as I wrote, years old and she is doing everything by herself. Only my sons girlfriend once a week is cleaning the windows or something she has to step up a ladder or something like that... She is washing , cooking, (for my son and her girlfriend), is still my Moms activities... and she love that...
@ Titti
Sorry for your Mom!! And thanks for your good wishes. Well, I'm also a lot of pissed on of the "united Europe". If they can be great, if they are....
But if something turns out not rihgt, the dont know how to do it...
I'm much more afraid about the poor little children, which were under terrible conditions in Greece..... and Covid 19 is the reason they don't do anything....

Mark.. what a horribly tragic thing. Sincere condolences to your wife and yourself on the loss of her dad. Next time I complain about any of this I will recall your scenario and will short circuit my complaint in honor of it. Best wishes on your dad's situation as well. It sounds like lots of phone time is about all you have to work with for now, and maybe some care packages of favorite goodies if he's allowed to receive them. This all makes me incredibly sad.

My girlfriends mother passed away a few weeks ago and there was no funeral as we and many other family members are scattered. It was my mother's 85th birthday yesterday. She lives overseas and our flight was cancelled and she was alone. I am worried that her risk of exposure will get unacceptably high if people relax distancing. But I sure hope that I can travel soon to look after her.

I'm surprised that the Ovation Fan Club isn't more active than it is, considering that most of us are sticking close to home. It seems like there are fewer posts than "normal".

So now the first one in our relations got it: My wifes uncle, living in Canada, Montreal area got it. But.... he is 91 years old. Everybody thought it's over now, but he had a mild fever for some days and is still up for the day, dressed and walking around. He was, indeed, positive tested.... All I heared, he will recover pretty soon. Well, he was in very good shape (physical) but he has Alzheimers for years now.

I traveled extensively last year for work. I don't think I was ever home for more than two weeks in a row...Latin America, Asia-Pac, Europe, Middle East, India, various North American locations. November through December I was back and forth to Germany more times than I care to count (I love Germany. If you haven't driven a manual transmission Audi "estate wagon" on the Autobahn you haven't lived! Worst high-speed accident I've ever seen was just north/northeast of Frankfurt. Fur was es wert ist, Ich spreche aus etwas Deutsche, aber nicht so gut...there's a whole bunch of other stories...involving biergarten). I had booked trips back to India, Japan and (gasp!) Germany (yay!) for February and early-March. None of which happened, as my employer immediately went in to "no travel" mode based on the experience we were having in China.

Anyway, I returned home from the last trip maybe three days before Christmas. From just about New Years through to about early February I had some sort of crud...coughing that wouldn't go away but was rarely productive, low-grade temp, general achiness. I put it down to jet lag and basic road-weariness. My doc now says "nah, you had the 'rona, brother. You're positive!". Thing is, other than the holidays when everyone was off, I was at work and living normal life the entire time. Nobody else in the house got whatever I had (now we know what it was)...though there were two co-workers who had the same symptoms...both of whom had been in Germany around the same time I was (but not with me). Very strange illness.

I am convinced I exposed my elderly parents to it, but they never had any issues (thank G-d). But, I am p*ssed at our Governor for sending COVID-positive patients to nursing homes and putting those folks at heightened risk. My ex-bro-in-law (I kept him in the divorce) was positive for it mid- to end-March; he was affected way worse than I was, but he's six months older and in (if you can believe it) worse physical condition than I am. He survived. He's the only person other than me that I know has had a positive diagnosis. And, no, I didn't visit him so I wasn't the infection vector.

Truly...strange times we live in.

Holy crap, somebody that actually traveled more than me !!! Actually I threw in the towel almost 3 years ago and am absolutely loving retirement. The size of my guitar and ukulele collection has reduced a bit, but so has my golf handicap ...

The great thing is that we live in a free society and are responsible for our own destiny (yeah that's my politically correct way of saying F the governors). Keep in mind that there were plenty of a-holes in this world prior to the virus, and unfortunately there will still be plenty of them around after the virus. Be safe, be smart, be prosperous and be happy.

And above all else ... GO PLAY YOUR GUITAR !!!

There are days I'm tempted to retire early by choice. But, my five year plan to retire to a 40' sailboat in the Caribbean always seems to be five years away. I am aligned to your sentiment on the Gubernatorial diktats. Funny how this (at least in Michiganistan) has moved from "flatten the curve to avoid overwhelming the health care system" to "we need to make sure nobody else ever gets infected". One of those two things is rational, one is impossible barring genocide.

I've actually transitioned from guitar to bass lately. Just took delivery of a Warwick Corvette fretless last week, bringing my bass collection to three. Having a blast (read: am incredibly frustrated) tuning up my ear. :S

My cousin got it. She lives far out rural in Colorado and hand't been into a populated area for several weeks before symptoms came on. Just a nagging cough, so they tested her when she went in for her annual woman thing, and sure enough, positive. Anyway, when I heard about it and called to check on her she was outside washing her car.. far, far from "sick". A doctor friend told me that many viruses behave like this one. Not all that uncommon. His analogy was that they are often like round pegs out looking for round holes. When it finds one, they go down hard. But when it finds an oval hole, not so bad. And the square hole people who get it never much notice the difference. Then he went on to mentions something about this one happening during an election year.

And taking the motorcycle out has involved drastically fewer near-death experiences with texting automobile drivers. So, there's that. I like your "always a silver lining" thinking!

In the Denver area, things have been screwed down pretty tight - but are gradually opening up now. StephenT's band is playing its first real gig in a while next weekend. As an HR director by day - on the hiring end of things....all is online...but security fingerprinting has been a challenge. Playing wise - probably done more studio type work these past two months than I have done since the 80s. The necessity the mother of invention stuff. When it calls for it - I still use the round backs, one made in the 70s, one made about the re-opening, and one in the dreaded Fender years. Since it is Memorial Day - I have been thinking about getting Patriot or one of the Flag Guitars, just because. Hmm, time to search Reverb, the 'bay, and Craig's list.

I was in Denver briefly last week. Flew in (strangest flight ever), picked up a car and drove back. Also the strangest car-buying experience ever. No problem with social distancing because no one was around. The salesman wore a mask and gloves, we signed the papers with different sanitized pens and he stood outside while he explained the car's features. At least we had 700 miles to figure it out.
I wish I'd have thought about playing the Patriot on Memorial Day. Today will have to do. The 4 siblings and I just finished a Facebook Messenger chat with Dad for his 93rd birthday. Strange. We were the last ones to figure out how to get on. His independent living center was nice enough to set him up with a camera. He needs to quit giving them so much crap about being in quarantine. They've had 4 positive cases in the building and he bitches about their authority to impose a quarantine.

Funny coincidence, we just returned from Denver picking up a new car. No other customers in the showroom that we saw, and all the staff were wearing masks inside. Colorado is still pretty locked down, much more so than Utah where things are pretty much normal except more space between restaurant tables.

Dunno why Denver is selling so many cars to out-of-staters. Must be they are the only ones willing to come down below MSRP. They couldn't have made it easier for us to buy from them.

Now we're waiting on delivery of a guitar cabinet (with built in humidifier), but due to Covid restrictions at the time of shipment, the delivery service won't bring it inside. We have to hire an independent moving company to haul it up the stairs.

Covid has made it a strange world.

I did go out to play guitar today at Whole Foods today, for an hour or so.
I sat off to the side of where the people were lined-up on the markers 6ft apart.
It was a sunny day and I got to go out an enjoy it for a little while.

Meanwhile... I am expecting a sudden increase in the number of Covid-19 in about ten days.

(Marchers heading downtown around 6PM today)

When we were bringing the new car back from Denver, we needed to make a quick stop after the long open stretch from Utah up to Idaho. We pulled over in a little town in central Idaho. Both McDonalds and Burger King were under construction, so we stopped at a Maverick. Lots of people without masks, acting like they didn't know about COVID. I parked with an empty spot on both sides and when we came out people had squeezed in on both sides. COVID has decreased significantly in most of Idaho, but increased dramatically in the small towns like the one we stopped in.
Of course, when I washed the car it had a ding on the left side.

The Dead are Real.

Just because the media found a new headline does not mean the Pandemic is over.
We still have US Soldiers dying in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
Just because it ain't in the top of News Cycle does not mean it isn't happening.

I have been laying low on social media sites because of the politicization of this. I even canceled my Facebook account.
I lost two friends to the virus in two separate states. I had a bout myself which was thankfully mildish. We lost 12 residents in our assisted living facility in my small midwest city. Spread like wildfire.

Had an older gentleman in Kroger the other day say as I passed... "you liberals with your stupid masks". I stopped and politely told him I was not wearing a mask because some imbecile politician told me to.... I was wearing a mask because a doctor told me to.
And, I apologize Paul M for not getting back to you. Your thoughts and prayers meant a great deal. I just needed to unplug for a while.
Peace my friends.
