Location: 6 String Ranch | he doesn't care, I was just looking for one that would show off the brand the best. I got two off eBay, one of the little blue 12x8" ones and one of the red square ones, probably 24x36. Look on eBay at the Japanese one, that's the cool one.
He's my neighbor and has a hot rod shop. Lots of neon, clocks, car dealerships, now an Ovation or two. I gave him a bunch of old license plates, and some of those old metal car stuff plaques, for Texaco, Chevy, NASCAR and stuff like that. The shop rebuilds Hummers, the real ones, and hotrods them. Kind of a Texas thing I guess
You'd think after 20 years of being away and the brand being fucked by Fender and not treated much better by DW, that I'd get over it. Guess not, must be in my soul.
Thanks all for your help

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I have one of the originals.. I'll need some coin for it, but probably not as much as getting one from Japan and then shipping it in one piece. It took me a lot to get it... but in the end... I light it about once a year to make sure it works. This photo was taken a few minutes ago.

Location: Colorado | Miles - what are the approximate dimensions? I know shipping these things so they do not bust can be a challenge - but if Beal is not interested...I could be. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | The shipping dimensions and weight aren't too bad. I built it into a crate and will float the crate in box. It's amazing how quickly a complicated project comes together when you have nowhere else to be. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Having purchased and received maybe 60 neon signs over the years, the very best method is to pack the tubes with foam, then triple box the shipment with good foam padding in each. Sounds like a lot, but repairing busted tubes can get pricey. I bought a huge Takamine sign once and it arrived in pieces. Cost me two times more to repair it than the original purchase. However, it is the only vintage neon Takamine sign I’ve ever seen. Really big neon signs usually come in some form or outer can with mounting tabs. This makes it easy to mount it in a crate for shipment, but these are really big heavy signs. I have a 7’ vintage Ford Jubilee sign and five 36” diameter round signs all shipped in this manner. |
