Location: SoCal | I don't know whether to label this a new guitar or a used guitar. In late 2014 I traded a 2004 30th Custom Legend that had sat on a music store wall for almost 10 years, purchased by a good friend just to hold it until he could find it a home. Sold it a year ago. The guitar i traded for it, I bought new in 2006, a 1773LX custom. The next new guitar I got was one of the 12 original OFC slotheads. It's gone also. Before that, in 1996 I bought my 1994 Adamas I 12 string. Still have it. Before that I've got to go back to 1979. |

| A nice 1979 Country Artist (1624) purchased off Craig's List with the original case a couple of years ago (it had been lingering there for two months). It's in great condition with no cracks (finish or wood). Only a few minor dings in the binding. I use it more than any of my other guitars. |

Location: When?? | Met a guy at a party who had been sitting in the with band. We strike up a convo. Covo leads to Ovations. Ovations lead me saying that I didn't own any cutaway acoustics at the moment. No cutaways leads to an invite to his house after the party. Invite leads to him handing me a fingerprinted, dusty 2000 1771-2. Handing leads to "Now you do." For free. For free leads to bringing it home and cleaning it up. Cleaning leads to absolutely pristine condition 1771-2 now hanging in my studio. So there. |

Yes, the C2007 is a nice one, but my friend Dieter's is sounding better than mine although mine was played a lot more. Dieter's is like a new one....

Location: northern Georgia | All my Ovations were bought used. Most recently I got a 1974 1114 Folklore off of Reverb for a good price. Had to do a little top heat treatment and brace reinforcement to reduce the top sinking, but that is done. I also got some NOS tuning machines to replace the originals from Al Pep for it. I will do a re-fret soon, and need to repair a few finish cracks - still think I got a good deal. A couple of years ago I got a 1991 1763 classical from Elderly Instruments to have a classical with a cutaway that I could used both acoustically and amplified. That is in my regular practice rotation. Meanwhile, I am getting into the later stages of a total rebuild of a 1974 1617-1 that I bought "as is" from Elderly 20 years ago. I am replacing the top and neck, reinforced the bowl, and will be using a Baggs LB6x pickup with a Baggs preamp. That will probably take another couple of months to complete -- I should post a bit in the BFLG on that project soon. |

Not sure if this is aimed at me, Paul... the old 12'er is in great sounding/playability shape. Just needs a little facelift. Got that wonderful jangibility of an original O. Pics when she gets home. |

Location: Yokohama, Japan | Very cool thread! Enjoyed reading through all of your pre-owned purchases!
My last was the Adamas 1680 which is still waiting for me in California.
Will be picking her up this coming summer.
Prior to that I couldn't pass up an opportunity to own OMA's "Vincent" (97C) - both Twelve-Fretters. As a matter of fact, my last new O was a Twelve-Fretter too.
Just amazing instruments!

Although it supposedly sat unplayed from 1976 until I played it, I have to assume it was at least strummed over all those years, so it's technically used. The stencil is faded, but it's otherwise in new condition. RIP Nancy. You're a sweetheart. |

All of the Ovations I've ever had were used. My last one was/is my 1993 Collectors Series. I sold my 1990 Elite 1768-4 to get it.

And I kinda miss that plastic guitar. Damn!
Today I just bought 1771LX without electronics.
I've got something that I can put in there.

Since I'm in my "band room" all the time, I just look around. Bill Geist calls it CRS disease for those of us over 50 (or way over in my case) who can't remember "stuff". I used to be able to remember what I paid for every major purchase and most small ones, but couldn't remember a name until I quit trying to think of it. Now I can't remember anything. I just now remembered the name of a judge that I was trying to remember two hours ago. I can remember the ages of our kids, but only because I can see in my mind the dates on the necks of the Ovations I gave them. |

Still waiting for someone who knows what the "LX" stands for. And were they ALL red? That seems to be the only color I have ever seen one.. including my own. |

Lighter Bowl X-Bracing.
(sounds like good marketing spoo to me)
It has the GS (glass sphere) bowls, and Graphite neck stabilizers.
The necks were "set" in the USA factory.
Cherry Cherry Burst is a great LX color for center hole guitars.
New England Burst for the Elite LX's.
And of course, Black and Natural.
Cherry Cherry Burst is Cool. That is why they made so many.

Thank you for the clarification. I had asked that before and no one seemed to have an answer. |

Congratulations TAFKAR! Gotta tell ya these USA Os are well worth the wait whether in Japan, Brazil or any other part of the world. The Twelve Fretters are especially amazing, IMHO - with a Koa top and from Mr. Pepiak, well you can't go wrong with that combination. Praying safe travels for the instrument! Make sure to give us an update when yours arrives and I'll make sure to post one when mine comes home! Cheers!
