I believe that is "Hawk" the special Claro Walnut Custom Legend she had made Beal is playing in the video.
Hard to get more touching than that as a rememberance to her love of guitars.

Location: 6 String Ranch | Miles, when she broke her arm in February it wouldn’t heal. Turned out it was bone cancer and that’s why it wouldn’t heal. And the cancer had spread. She said “I’m OK with this, let it go” She got things in order, her guitars went where she wanted, animals too, and the rest she dealt with.
She gave me Hawk, her Claro walnut guitar. Years ago she wanted one of these made. I told here it probably wouldn’t be that great. She said OK and gave me the piece of walnut. I gave it to Collings to have them make a guitar from it. My plan was to give it to her when it was done. It took 2 years till I figured out what to do. I told them to make a CJ in walnut. They did and when it was about a month from being finished Nancy posted pictures of hers from the second piece of walnut she had. That is Hawk. I said OK, I’ll keep this one and think of you when I play it. She smiled and laughed. Then she broke her arm and it all started coming apart. She moved many of her guitars to Damon, she gave Hawk to me to be with he other one. We talked about a song for her, but wanted it to be “up”. It became obvious that the song couldn’t be about her, but the chair instead, since she loved to rock. Smile, she wanted it to be “up”. After I wrote the song and sent her the demo, she changed her Facebook page to the one with her picture (which she never posted before) and the words “And I Smile”. I to was only appropriate to use her guitar, Hawk, for the video, and have her picture at the end.
She was a really special person

Location: Texas | Nancy had a doctorate in kindness, which produced a giving soul that had no boundaries. She was a secret Santa all year long to many, I cannot help but believe. She was insistent that her gracious acts fall under the Nancy NDA. That is why I think there are some out there that will smile upon reading this. In sharing, it wasn’t the gift....Nancy knew that the item was the seed that provided growth. Growth in graciousness, giving, and kindness. From a stranger to a stranger was the hook...she damn sure knew what she was doing and she loved it. I am a better person because of Nancy (I hope). Our friendship was born from appreciation of her initiating growth in me and subsequently of her. She came to us and purposely touched lives. I am certain, her love for guitars was secondary. We are all so blessed she chose the OFC to adopted us. God Bless you Nancy. May you eternally rest in peace. |

Location: Indiana | I've been re-reading PM exchanges with Nancy. In one of her first responses she used her famous "HOLY BUCKETS!!!!". Brought a smile to a truly sad day.
This has also reminded me how the women OFC'ers... as rare as they are... have made such an impact on all of we crusty ol curmudgeons.
They elbowed themselves into our hearts.

Location: Boise, Idaho | She was a sweetheart. I was a beneficiary of one of her "secret Santa" gifts. A few years ago, she sent me a Patriot, supposedly from some anonymous person with a sort of "pay it forward" note. It happened to arrive on my birthday, so I got in trouble with SWMBO, who had a difficult time believing it came as an anonymous gift. I was pretty sure it was her and almost let out her secret. I talked to her and she admitted she sent it, but didn't want anyone to know. She just wanted the joy of giving. Pure sweetness. I was just wondering why we hadn't heard from her. She'll be missed. |

Location: Muenster/Germany | I was completely shocked when I opened the OFC site today. Nancy was (incredible that I must say "was") soo lovely, it´s such a pity that I never had the chance to met her in person. At least she played the last years one of my former best Ovation guitars in "the frozen tundra of Minnesota".Thanks Beal for the song, makes my smile.

Location: When?? | Many thanks to Beal for making such a fantastic tribute video with Nancy's walnut gem. Unlike so many others here, I only had the privilege of knowing her for a few years. We connected instantly and our email and phone chat exchanges were always a treat. Those exchanges became shorter and less frequent in 2019, so this news is not a shock in that sense, but rather a relief in that she is no longer in battle. We often enjoyed trading stories of life progression from youth to adulthood and beyond, and the attached photo is one of the last things I ever sent to her in that regard. She liked it very much. I think it is also probably quite representative for many of us others as well, so I will leave you here with that as I did with her. Thank you, Nancy, for so many kind and wonderful engagements and memories.

She took it and ran, along with others' advice, and built a personal statement with it. She and I had several conversations as well about the calendars, and she almost single-handedly kept me doing them for a couple of years with her enthusiasm. I had no idea she was ill, but was becoming increasingly worried about her this year. I will surely miss her joyous, and I mean absolutely JOYOUS, attitude around here! Rest in peace Nancy. You touched others' lives. |

Location: Fairhaven, MA | Nancy was the best.. We would chat for hours in FB messenger and on the FB Ovation pages. I coveted her USA Flag Ovation CL.. She would joke about leaving it to me in her will.. Well one day, she sent me a text message to tell me she found one for me to buy on Reverb.com. I bought it that same night. She and myself were both thrilled.
She would refer to me as her big brother, and I would call her little sis... She will live on in my heart and will always be with me when I play the Flag O.. Her sister got in touch with me the morning after she passed.. The sorrow I felt was intense, but felt relief knowing she was free of the pain that horrible disease was causing...
RIP Nancy... You are missed everyday..
