There's either a battery compartment door to open or you go in thru the rear hatch.

I believe you have to open it up and change it from inside. On my mando I ended up velcro'ing the battery to the inside of the hole cover instead of dicking around that the stupid screw attachment. Actually works out really well.

You'll see a slot-head screw near the rear-access door. Take off the door and a 1/4 turn on this releases the battery box, same as on all Ovations until they went to external battery access. I've done the same as Dave on my book Mando. Stewmac sell a little battery pouch which you can attach anywhere internally with velcro. Much better than dicking around with that stupid screw attachment, especially if the battery goes down in the middle of a gig, which has happened to me on a couple of times. Strangely it's only been with the mando, which get's used the least.
