Location: Bluffton, SC | That looks in great shape. Ever since seeing the pics ( must be a hundred times) of Dave playing his as a teenager (must be a hundred years ago), I've always wanted to get my hands on one and play around a bit. Very nice - going to be interesting to see how high it goes. |

Location: Scotland | That serial number on that one is only a few digits away from mine, which was about as minty as that when I got it for about $300. But since I've gigged the crap out of it for about 5 years it's looking a little tired now. Still, that's what they're intended for. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I recall how beautiful was a similar model sold by Miles a few months ago, and for what I thought was a record sales price. This one looks to be in similar condition, sans a whammy bar. I wish my T-Head was in as nice a condition. |

Location: Scotland | I have an early catalog with K-prefix model numbers which shows the T-head as $449.50 for the non-vib model and $499.50 for the vibrato version. The Tornado and Typhoon 1 were $299.50, the Typhoon 2 $349.50 and the Hurricane was $399.50 |

The sunburst and red on the otherhand... I don't think most of them made it into the 70's without checking. |

Location: Scotland | The seller states that the T-head pickups are by Dearmond. Now, I've always thought they were Dearmonds, they look (and sound) almost identical to the Model 200 Dynasonic pickup used by Gretsch, Harmony and a ton of other manufacturers in the 50's and 60's, and Dearmond has been quoted as the manufacturer several times on the OFC. But, in the patents section of Jerome's site there is a patent granted in 1970 for the T-head pickup with Ovation's Jim Rickard as the inventor. The patent cites Dearmond as references.
Patent
So while the rest of the Storms used Schaller pickups, it would appear that the T-head used a proprietary Ovation pickup and not a Dearmond manufactured pickup as many seem to think. Anyone shed any light on this. Bill? |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Hey, suprise to me. I always thought they were D'Armond. I would have to guess that Rickard came up with a wrinkle to get past the D'Armond patent and had one issued to himself. Couldn't have made D'a very mad since I think they made the pickups and the harnesses for Ovation.
All else was Schaller. |
