Awillman13 had asked me " I have a 1111-4 with a silver label and a neck block stamped 7588. I seem to remember there was a conflict of when they stopped the neck stamp and started the serial number sticker with the arrival of the oval label."

Note: Model 1111-4 with Serial 7588 would be in the run from 1968. The next batch ran in 1970 which is when I believe the location of the serial numbers.

What do y'all think?

If the general thought is that neck stamping ceased with oval stickers, then the exception could be due to an overabundance of necks that were stamped with a serial during the label transition.
Just like some winged bridges getting on 2nd Gen guitars. Waste not, ... well, you know.

Yes, transitions and inventory played a big part.
Was the factory moved between the 1968 and 1970 batches?

The bible claims that it happened in February of 67.
