Location: Nashville TN. | The VXT cranks like a Les Paul Standard for a lot less money.
The Ovation really cranks toom but can be hard to find.
Gibson Les Paul and SG.
Hamer makes similare guitar that seem better built.
If you want a single coil sound American Standard Strats and/or Teles.
If you want Hollow body sound the Ovation Electric Storm Series is still not expensives compared Gibson ES-335 or host Gretch Models.
They sound unique.
Epiphones Sheraton II are surprisingly good for the money. Guild Starfires are sweet as well but not cheap.
USA Neck Tru body BC RICH's have extremely fast neck.
Paul Reed Smith are sweet players.
G&L and Rickenbackers are cool too.
Its all personal preference.
Try as many as you can.
You might want to get a buyers guide
and make a list of everything you want to try. |

I reckon my GS3 plays as good as and sounds even better than my American Series Strat and my Viper with the De Marzios is a killer. |

Same with guitars. Try a WHOLE LOT of 'em. Why do you think we hunt down and collect the damn things?? |

What is the name of the place you were playing at?
This year I bought a new Fender Slimline Telecaster natural finish and it is one of the easiest most comfortible guitars I have owned. It is a MIM one and I like it better than my USA strat.Go figure.
Sorry if I offended you Moody,P.I. or anyone else by using the actual spelling of a word instead of changing a couple of letters to somehow class up my post so it would fool the women kids & teenagers on this board for I am not here to offend anyone. After being a member for a couple of years I am suprised to be called out on that one which is very mild compared to some of the stuff that is posted here. If I did spell it like you wanted somebody might criticize me for spelling it the wrong way and sending the wrong message to our kids teenagers & women.

Different tastes all around but for me, my Strat has been in retirement since about '92 when I switched to JEM/RG style Ibanez's.
I'd played nothing professionally but my '75 Strat and when I bought my first JEM it was supposed to be just for me, to enjoy and use as a house guitar.
Tried it one night onstage and the Strat went to the wall-hanger status. |

It may be the player, not the instrument....
YMMV |

I was thinking about Flying V's... But you cannot really play one sitting down! Can you?
[I usually play sitting in my "studio"]
I may be wrong, since I have never tried. |

I may be wrong, since I have never tried. I've seen ones with a rubber insert to help keep it from slipping or you can put the "V" on your leg and play it semi-vertically, which is what I always do if I pick on up. |

My son's guitar is that Dean Explorer meets V body style and that works very well sitting down. But it has this really cool flame paint job so you kind of want to get up and jump around when you play it. :D |

Unfortunately, no. Nor is the truck with the big toolbox (belongs to the drummer).
I'm not sure who owns the Chevy. I know it's an older gentleman who comes there often.
The place is called "Teebonez" in Fenton, Michigan. Unfortunately, they have no room for entertainment inside the place, so when summer is done - so are we. |
