Location: Yokohama, Japan | Hello OFC, Been playing my limited number of USA Os. Excluding my 1868 which is still under construction, my 1117 has a stellar sparkle. My torrefied 1612 is deep and satisfying. But my 1678AV50 is something special (that's saying a lot considering how much I love my torrefied Balladeer!). Got me thinking how many Os were constructed with the "neck meets body at the 12 fret" design. Searched throughout the forum and found a lot of useful information, and rave after rave after rave reviews of these amazing guitars. Looked throughout the web and found some great info at "Tribute" as ususal, but couldn't find a definitive list. So..., I thought making one here might be useful (???). In compiling this list I left out custom orders (like the Utes), as my hope is to assist those of us looking to find some of these to add to our collections. Although some of the custom ordered models have come up for sale, those are rare occasions, so this list is focusing on production models: The list is split into only two categories; non-cutaway and cutaway. Steel stringers are unmarked while nylon stringers are marked "nylon". Os are listed with no markings and As are marked accordingly. Tried to keep bowl depth info accurate as well, but I dunno... Non-Cutaway (Center-hole and Epis) 1113 Classic nylon DPB 1114 Josh White DPB 1115 Pacemaker 12-string DPB 1116 Concert Classic nylon DPB 1158 Custom Legend 12-string DPB 1613 Classic nylon DPB 1614 Folklore DPB 1615 Pacemaker DPB 1616 Concert Classic nylon DPB 1618 Glen Campbell 12-string DPB 1658 Custom Legend 12-string DPB 1678 50th Anniversary Epis MDB 1680 Adamas Premiere Epis DPB 1713 Classic nylon DPB 1997 Collector's Parlor nylon or steel string Cutaway (incidentally all Center-hole!) 1763 Classic nylon DPB 1773 Classic nylon MDB 1863 Classic nylon SSB FD14 Josh White Folklore Deluxe DPB Posting this list here in hopes that all the veterans might be able to hone it into a definitive and accurate list. My preliminary research indicates there are no cutaway/epi'd production models offering this incredibly efficient design. Hence, the Utes I guess??? Naw, gotta be missing something here... Hope this list will be helpful to somebody someday... I know all of you "In the Know" don't need this sort of thing, but since I'm not there, thought I'd post this here! Thanks for the help!

Location: Texas | The original Josh White Model was #4 until it was discontinued after his death. They re-continued that model during the 70s and gave it the Model #1114, calling it the Folklore. They re-issued the Josh White in 2006 as a 40th anniversary guitar. The model # for that guitar is "K1114" Not very many were made of the first one and even fewer for the 2nd. If you were ever looking for a 12 fretter...Ovation killed it with both of those shiny bowls. Beal...what did you do with your early one that you scored last year.

@ Patsbro - Yes, the U681T is production isn't it. Thanks. I realized that I had forgotten to check the Ovation Gallery website (awesome site) and there it was listed as a production model!
@ jay & 2wheeldrummer - I think you're both talking about the original series, right? So...
#3 - Classic nylon DPB
#4 - Josh White DPB
#5 - Balladeer 12-string DPB
#6 - Contemporary Folk Classic DPB
#8 - Glen Campbell 12-string DPB
However, everything I'm finding on the 1624, 6773LX and 6774LX suggest they are 14 fretters. Were there special editions produced as 12 fretters?

Custom built for a Mr. Tom Tennant (hope it's okay to share this pic here). Didn't include it in the list as it's a one-off custom build; but WOW... Anybody here heard this thing before? I guess the market for guitars like this is pretty small, but this thing has got to be a resonance monster?

The 1624 was a 14fret, I had one. Sorry, no Ovations this time.. And to make your list more complete: my 1658 12string parlor is a 12fretter, too;-)

If I remember correctly, the guys in the factory put a wrong neck on it that Tom didn't want, but he accepted it. I played that guitar and thought is was magnificent! Whoever has it now has a really wonderful guitar....

Location: Yokohama, Japan | @ DetlefMichel - WOW! Thanks for sharing the pics of your Rissman twins...just beautiful. What kind of wood? @ d'ovation - AWESOME! Thanks for sharing the Guild twins...love those classical looking bridges on both - simply elegant and built right along side our most beloved Os! Those must just sound magical! Thanks for the comment on the 2080 12 Fretter moody, p.i. Your knowledgable comments always add depth! I don't imagine too many people have had a chance to hear, much less play that cool instrument! And thanks again everybody for the input. So here's my latest update;
1). Added 1122 as Classic Balladeer. Definitely a 12er! Thanks Patch! BTW, do you still have yours? 2). Fixed 1114/1614 "Josh White" to "Folklore". Thanks jay!...interesting that the K1114 is Josh White. 3). Moved FD14 to non-cutaway! Thanks TJR! 4). Added the 1198 GCF. The only non-slothead in the list. Thanks Damon67!
Keep the corrections coming! Interestingly enough, all 12 Fretters are slotheads except the 1198GCF. Added "Acoustic Only/Electric" designation just before the bowl type.

Bear in mind she's let me sell a 1537, 1538, two 1987's, a Martin D-42, and a Collings DS-41...among others. And I have a suspicion she would not mind if a few more went out the door as well...but not that one. So I say that I keep it for her. Who am I to argue?

Location: Muenster/Germany | Hi Arumako, the Rissmann 6 string has a mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, selected (I selected it!) bearclaw spruce top, solid figured maple sides and a solid rosewood back. This is the loudest guitar I ever had. See the special Rissmann bracings, very unusual for a steelstring: The 12string has a selected spruce top (very hard, sounded like a floortile when I tapped it), coloured, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and solid rosewood back and sides. Sounds like a 1920´s guitar..

It's a 12 fret slothead and has the Ovation paddle to show its heritage...

The curved cross brace (which looks symetric to the butt/bottom of the guitar) is set high...gotta make for some serious resonance there. My 1678's bear claw spruce top has killer resonance and sustain. I'm thinking "bear claw" spruce is more than pretty grain patterns... cholloway - 2018-05-07 10:27 PM

"The poor man's Folklore". I'll include this to the list as well. I think that's gotta complete the 12 Fretter list! Woohoo! Thanks for the contributions everybody!

The 67 Balladeer reissue was K1111. Maybe the K stood for "kinda". Does it matter...probably not. The Re-issues of the shiny bowls were beautiful instruments and if you picked one up under 1K, you got a steal.
