I was up to 65 Moosup Applauses and one day I discovered I was no longer interested. I've been selling them off one or two at a time. It's sad that I'm getting an average of $50 each for a US made guitar that's ready to play but oh well.
So far I have 4 or 5 set aside that are beyond any reasonable chance of being made playable to sell. I have no problem putting Neck A onto Bowl B to make something sellable, but I have a few that have fret wear beyond any chance of dressing and bowls with all the braces popped off and tops that have a profoundly convex shape. Not worth attempting a fix for the chance of getting a $50 bid.
Aside from just throwing them in the dumpster, what could I do with them? I know some crafters have made old acoustics into curio shelves and whatnot.
The bowls aren't big enough for shelters for feral cats.
If I were to ask non-Ovation people, the first answer would be "boat paddle". Har-de-har-har. So original.
I may keep the 1000th Applause and I may also keep one of the AA-12s, which is the greatest Applause ever made, in my opinion. Possibly one of the Academys.
