Hi everybody! Been awhile since I've logged in here. I was wondering how many production changes happened with the breadwinner? I know the first version had toroidal single coils and the jack was on the curved cut of the body. Then there was single coils and output jack on the pickguard. Third had humbucker style pickups. Any others? And does anyone know what year each change occurred?

There was also the progression from plastic saddles to brass. I think later ones might have had the slotted bridge plate with screws into the saddles from below. Not sure if any were made with the solid metal bridge.

You might have to look at a lot of pictures and serial numbers to figure out when each change was made.

My 1974 is #17 of all the production guitars built---pickguard mounted jack, torroidal pups, and nylon saddles. Information is scarce on these old beauties, but they did replace the pickups with the humbucker-type sometime in 1975. Changes were minimal from then until they ended production in 1978. I have owned mine since 1978, and haven't changed anything but the strings
