Location: South of most, North of few | Just wanted to be the first to thank Zilla and Mrs Zilla for the excellent hospitality shown to the members that showed up on their doorstep for fun and frolic. They really went out of their way to throw a never to be forgotten time, with food and the necessary merriment. Thanks to Beggin, TRboy, G8r and family, Capt LH, Gway, and all the other Zillas that really made the drive worth it. We got stuck on the I 4 parking lot for over 2 hours and I just got home so I'm a little too tired to post pics. I'll try to get them together for tomorrow..uh..today. I'm sure Jim is working on that right now. No Martin sticker jokes... ;) |

No wait, I WAS at this one!
Thanks to everybody who came, it was a blast! To those who were hoping to be there, we missed you!
Thanks to TR for stringing my mando and getting the action down to about a half inch. Thanks also for the keychains and the Johnny Cash licks! I'll work on Ghost Riders for next time.
Big thanks to the Capt'n, Beggin and g8r for their great loud singing so nobody had to listen to me sing along! Jas thanks for bringing the reso, I had fun with it. Jim thank for letting me hog your Ute - I'll give you $850 for it.
Thanks to Trader Jim for playing the snare so we could figure out when to end a song. Thanks for the set of Silk and steels too! I think I try 'em on my 47RI.
Thanks to Gway for not only wearing pants, but also wearing the Ovation shirt and hat so my SWMBO and g8r's SWMBO know what to get us for Christmas! As you notice from the picture above Gary was playing a guitar with a plastic back AND front.
And thanks to Mrs. g8r for helping with the food, Serge, you have a great family!
Thanks to everybody again, I had a great time. Looking forward to the next one! |

Brad, in the first set of pics: #2 pic is Gway
#3 pic is Capt lovehandles, #4 pic is TRboy, #7 pic features Zilla hisself on the left, and #8 is G8r. In the second set of pictures, #3 is Beggin Jim,
#4 is Trader Jim, #5 is Gway with his favorite guitar.
Also, many songs could be classified as train wrecks by the untrained ear, but professionally speaking, I think they all sounded great! :D |

Location: Simpsonville, SC | WOW! Let me say it again, WOW! Y'all shoulda been there. Let me tell you my side 'O the tale.
TRboy and I hit the road from Simpleville to Hotlanta to pickup the Captain and head to tha Big O. Ten hours of road time that seemed like about two. Jas and Mike kept me in song and laughter the whole way.
I blinked and we were at the Zilla Folks' beautiful Florida Estate, where from the initial greeting to the last goodbye we were treated like kings...no....kings never had it so good. We arrived Friday evening, with g8r coming shortly thereafter, and broke out the O's and A's and played until about 1:00a.m. After forcing ourselves to bed and sleeping great (well, maybe not the Captain, but that's another story), we awoke Saturday morning to a lovely breakfast. Soon after, TraderJim and Gway arrived and then it was play and sing, swap guitars, laugh and cut up the whole day and evening long. We did take brief breaks to eat and have a beverage or so, all graciously provided, setup, and serverd by the WHOLE Zilla clan. KINGS I TELL YA, TREATED LIKE KINGS! After another great nights sleep (the Captain even slept well) we got up this morning and hung out a while before leaving for the journey home. The ride back seemed only to take about three hours due to the bonding of the the Amigos. How Jas put up with Mike and I, I will never know.
The whole Zilla family went totally out of the way to make us feel welcome and waited on us hand and foot the entire time. Y'all are truly blessed to have such a great and close family. My most gracious THANK YOU to you all! It was a great time that will not be forgotten.
To my old and new OFC friends, thanks for the great time and the insipration to continue my journey down Guitar Lane. I hope that one day I can be as good as anyone of you. It was a privilege to play and sing with y'all, thanks for putting up with me!
As Jeff W. said in another thread:
"this a great board"
Ya shoulda been there!
More pics tommorrow...too late tonight. |

You know there are a great group of people in this here Club and it only makes it more fun to actually meet, sit and play with a bunch of them. Nice work, 'Zilla. |

Location: GA USA | Good stuff, Jimbo. Here go some of my highlights:
Ride down: Talked to Randy, played with Jim's iphone and TR's travel (Harmony) guitar.
Friday night: Reunion with the family Zilla. I called g8r to let him know we were settled in and that he needed to get himself over there. G8rette answered the phone and I went blank on his name. Uh, may I speak to g8r? Who? Um, the gentleman from the Ovation club? G8r came over and raised a few eyebrows with his superb playing.
Enjoyed a night of the beautiful music Jim makes when he sleeps. Sandy is a remarkable woman to put up with that racket.
Saturday: Coffee!
Meeting OFCers and families is a real joy. If that's how Trader Jim plays with a sore shoulder, I'd like to see him in top form.
Gway is a genuine nice guy. I'd hang out with these guys any time.
Did I mention the Zillas were there? This family has a Zombie Plan. That is, a plan to survive in case of Zombie Apocalypse, down to who gets left as bait, and who can be trusted to kill the others should they become zombies themselves. If you love your family, you'll have your own zombie plan.
We had chilli-cheeese-hotdog burgers. Burgers with cheese and hot dogs in the meat, smothered with chilli. Yum!
Three dogs and about as many cats running around us all day, along with two babies.
At bed time, left Jim's company and bunked in the room with the relatively quiet TRboy. Or maybe my hearing was shot from the night before.
Sunday: More fun with Zillas, talked religion and politics with Jim and TR on the way home. The two met some of my family, a proud moment.
Thanks to all, and looking forward to more.
Jas

whay's up with this zombie stuff, anyway? last night while driving home from a gig, i listened to a news report on the radio about the sheriff/police chief? of lansing, michigan who has made preparations for his town to be ready for a zombie attack. he has amassed loads of chainsaws in order to cut down the trees to detour the zombies from lansing. i was waiting for the punch line in this story, but there wasn't one. the dude is serious! |

Location: GA USA | We just kept adding to the Southern Style Jam songbooks. A couple of people brought new music to work on... it was great. I think Zilla printed some from Slipkid's trinket. The cool thing is that we made the exact number of books last June to last for both jams. Everyone got one and now they're gone. |

Of course, our performances will be all of us looking down at books while playing. So... mental note - music stands next time. |
