My first post! Glad this club is here. I have a Ovation Celebrity cc57. I bought it used years ago and love it. I have always been curious about its preamp. I just replace a preamp in my acoustic bass. So I decided to investigate my Ovation preamp. I have found nothing except a pic of the preamp on my cc57.

It must be so rare it is priceless, not likely. It is probably passive as I can't find a battery inside. It is not wired to the jack, no clue where the pick up is. I can't find a replacement. Should I upgrade to active? Try to wire up what exists? OR LEAVE IT ALONE AND BE HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE (because I might wreck it)?

Thanks

Does it work? If so, Leave it alone.

Yes, they are "rare" but I don't think that this makes them "valuable".

I have owned Two different CC57's, both of which had 2-knob passive systems.
I did like that they didn't need a battery.

If you really MUST plug it in, and your preamp doesn't work...
Any passive system will replace it. You could just go with a Direct-Out system.
You might try to find something that fits in the existing hole,
otherwise just get a system with knobs and drill holes for the knobs.
