Location: Vernon CT | As a fairly new guitar player of 6 yrs and one
who always admired the Ovation line for their "looks" and as I began playing for their "tone" when plugged in, I have been wondering about their "pecking"order Quality wise.
I know the Celebrity is the lower end line.
I think the Balladeer is next and the Adamas is
the top of the line. Where do the the other Models fall in line and what are they.I own the
Elite LX 1778

| Welcome BT717 - that's a very nice Elite you have. It's one of Ovation's top-of-the-line wood top models. You're right that the Adamas (carbon fiber tops) are the top end, generally followed by the LX Elites and Legends, then their non-LX counterparts. Even so, there's a lot of variability depending on the grade of wood, tuners, etc. within a specific model line.

The Elite LX has the "New England" sunburst top
which I found to be very unusual. Gold tuners,
solid AA spruce top (Getting excited yet?)Black
headstock and I believe Ebony fret board and bridge. It is sexy!! |

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | What exactly is a "New England" burst? My new Legend LX 12 string has a Amber type burst that is not listed anywhere. I think it may have been a Guitar Center special type thing where only they had them. I didn't get mine new, I traded an old Fender Amp for it so I am not sure but that's what the guy I traded with thought. |

Location: Vernon CT | I did get it at G.C.and got what I think was a pretty good deal. Mine actually has more of a faded
red to brown appearance to it then what is pictured above. I was really pleased with how good this sounded player acoustically as opposed to plugged in. |

I miss New England! Contrary to what the locals will tell you, Portland doesn't have Autumn.
Some Maples turn red, then it just starts raining.

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | lol.... the other two are nestled into my furry top holder. I don't like the rubber tubing as I have heard horror stories about how they react with wood on guitars. I actually have cotton t-shirts wrapped around the bottom tubes of my stands for that reason but I found the furry top holders nice for a good snug fit. |

You have a chooses to make
First the imports
Applause, Celberty, Celb Deluxe in that order.
Thats pretty simple.
Beginner to Semi pro.
Then you get to to USA guitars
Traditional or LX
one hole or multi sound hole
Super Shallow, Mid, deep counture or deep.
In your case
Balladeer LX plain entry level pro.
Legend LX is mid grade pro.
Custom Legend LX has alot of bling.
Sound difference is not as big as you might think
if the have the same bowl.
Your Legend LX certainly would more than do the job if you got signed to a major record and were going on tour.
Tha Adamas is whole different animal.
If this makes sence they take on the sound of the player in a way wood tops don't.
Some people can make them absolutely sing.
Me I can't get much out of one.
It suits you or it doesn't.
I don't think its better than Custom Legend or Custom Elite its different choose.
Guitar are very personal things.
