Hi Everyone,

Greetings from Melbourne, Australia!

I'm trying to help my father with a problem he's having with his Ovation Celebrity CC 44.

Initially, he was having problems with the action and so decided to remove and shave down the saddle. Yes, I know that's generally a no-no because it reduces the required pressure on the pickup. Anyway, in the process of removing the saddle, the shims and pickup all sprung out.

Apparently, several parts of the pickup fell out everywhere ("they were like the cracked lead of a pencil"). He then attempted to put it all back together, but wasn't sure about the orientation of the parts. Now the pickup doesn't work at all.

I'm not familiar with these pickups, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be made up of several parts or is broken. The slimline piezo pickups I've seen online all seem to be a single sealed unit.

Is there a way to fix the pickup or is it beyond repair? What's the best way forward? Where can I order replacements, etc. if necessary?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hi Chris.

Contact Ovation for a replacement.
http://www.ovationguitars.com/contact
Or call 1-800-552-4681

You could contact Australis Music.

(02) 9698 4444
Sales@australismusic.com.au

As to putting the pickup back together, I don't know.
I have never taken one of them apart.

I would contact Ovation USA in New Hartford, Connecticut.
If you call by phone, be aware that it is the Eastern USA time zone.
But you can leave a message for John Budny.

Hope that helps.
