| And away we go. Not to jump into the deep end too quickly, but I have what I think is a rather odd situation with a relatively recent purchase of a long sought after unicorn. Technically, this should be filed in the " about my guitar" forum, but until I have expanded posting rights, I'd hate to gum up the works. Suffice it to say, I stumbled across what seems to be a vintage Pacemaker 12 string (dated to 1975), but there are some striking inconsistencies with the information publicly available. It's certainly not a fake, but it's not right either. I'd love to get some input from those with a more seasoned knowledge than mine. Regardless, it sounds like it supposed to and the case smells authentic. Looking forward to any response and hope that I may be able to contribute at some point in the future. | |

| I'll try to summarize. Using a guide researched and compiled by Paul Bechtoldt, the serial number (062626) puts it at the tail end of 1975. The model number on the label showed 1115-2, or an acoustic round back, standard bowl and 12 string in red finish. So far, so good. Then, as I start to raise it from the dead, the model sticker falls off and it's now a 1615-4, an electric acoustic round back, standard bowl and 12 string in natural finish. To complicate things further, someone had installed (poorly) a Schaller Oyster, but on further inspection, there were wires cut off under the saddle, but no evidence of a piezo in the saddle. Last but not least, the guide shows that red was not introduced until 1976. This could be explained by the serial number's proximity to the end of the range, but given the other issues, it might have bearing. As I said before, once cleaned up, it sounds just like the one I lusted after when I was waiting for my guitar lesson as a child and even with the nasty head stock repair, I certainly can't go wrong for what I spent on it. That is not the normal Saddle for a 1615. This is...
What you have may be something that is under the Bridge itself...
Between the Bridge and the soundboard, not an under-saddle piezo.
You could just get an Artec/Fishman/LR Baggs undersaddle pickup and put it under your saddle.
Either with a Direct-out jack or an unobtrusive internal preamp.
That could be done by only drilling one hole through the soundboard from the saddle slot.
Hang-around, maybe smarter people will chime-in.
And eventually a "moderator" can upgrade your membership to post elsewhere.
(I am not a "moderator"... they don't trust me with the keys)
