How do I get access to post in other areas of the site?

Hey, I seem to only be able to post here in the Welcome Center. In the "read me" it says to "Let us know if you want to stick around", but I didn't know if I had to contact a mod personally to get access or...?

And just to clarify by access I mean ability to post in other sections other than the Welcome Center. It doesn't give me an option for "New Thread" except in the WC
