| Hey guys, been a very busy couple of months. New website is up and guaranteed to have errors. We will be at Summer Namm as a stand alone brand. You will also notice the new applause on the website as well which will no longer look exactly like an Ovation. No eppys for Applause and the new headstock also assures Ovation wont be changing the headstock anytime soon ;0.

Still some info to update, but they managed to get everything out front in an easy navigation scheme so good job on that. Also VERY easy to tell the difference between the lines/series. Overall nice improvements. |

It is certainly great to see an up-to-date lineup including a few of the Anniversary models. Though a bit disappointing that no 12 string is included (yet). |

A few things:
1) Kaki King is missing from the Artists page. You guys have a signature model of hers so she obviously should be in there!
2) Some of the pages don't seem to show photos of the entire guitar. The close-ups are fine and very beautiful, but imho when one clicks on the "View More" button on the main page there should be some full body photos not just close ups. It took 4 clicks to see the full view of a Ruby Red Applause.
3) The US Dealer search doesn't recognize a simple zip code as being that. It wants to see the 5 digits as a street number. If all someone enters is 5 digits it should be assumed to be a zip.
One of our local shops wants to be a dealer but they tell me they are being told they have to carry a substantial number of guitars. They don't have the capital or the wall space to do so. Will small mom/pop shops be able to become official dealers?

Nice website and lots of great pictures!!!
What jumped out at me is under the Adamas heading they are described as having a uni-directional carbon-graphite suspended soundboard and goes on to describe the AST {adamas suspended top} but the new adamas has woven twill carbon fiber tops and no AST,are you going to be reintroducing the Adamas I with AST top, please say yes I love the look of the 40th anniversary adamas but would buy a Adamas I 1688 12 string.
also in the moving graphics for adamas 40th anniversary non cutaway it says shallow but the specs say mid-bowl.

I like the website overall. Very easy to navigate. Although I have no current plans to purchase any standard models, there are some color schemes and features that I would be interested in combining in a custom model, if and when custom one-off orders ever become an option in the future. |

Weird, it must not have loaded fully or correctly for me. When I clicked on the button along the top of the page for "Artists" there is a series of photos of Ovation artists. Kaki's photo was not amongst them. But today it is definitely there. Yesterday I scrolled through the slide show numerous times to be sure she was missing before I posted it here. |

And as mentioned before, resources like the model archive and history are essential for background and hopefully updates to those will appear soon. |

Build It, then Buy It! Dealers could be pulled into the loop by shipping the guitar to the nearest dealer for delivery. In this age of instant online purchase there should be some way to make it happen here. |

The Applause series head stock and 4-hole Elite style sound holes are a nice change...kinda makes me wanna get one...Uh Oh, I can feel the GAS coming...really lucky that I can't see the shopping cart from over here in Japan! Interestingly there is no listing for a dealer in Japan...should we be expecting major changes over here? |

| I, too, was frustrated in the lack of consistency from model to model in terms of what photos were available, the convoluted access (View more, View more, etc.) and the limited views. I'd like to be able to enlarge a full body view, zoom in, and pan around the whole guitar. |

I have several miniature guitars, thoughtfully given with a phrase such as, "Now you can't complain that I never bought you a guitar." Or a card that says, "I hope you enjoy your new guitar .........................shirt".
I think I talked myself out of wanting Ovation to provide any more swag. |

But (there's always a but) now for just a few downsides-- It was kinda crazy when the intro features instantly started rotating to new images with only a mouse hover instead of a click.. making it a bit too busy when they all start rotating when I simply moved the mouse across the page, but I soon got used to it, and those viewing on mobile devices may not have that issue. Also, in the "Artists" section, I found that once I clicked through all of the artists, it wouldn't let me click back the other direction (kind of like going to a buffet that only allows you one trip down the chow line.. lol). Other than that, just a couple of minor discrepancies of a fascia nature which I'm sure the developer will find and tweak on soon enough.
On the business end-- I see a shopping cart and sales prices. Does purchasing by this method mean the product comes directly from the factory, or is there a rotating list of dealers to whom those transactions are assigned and shipped from?
On the product end.. wow.. it causes some serious GAS.. but I guess that's why it's there! However, there's something I don't understand about the anniversary models.. and I have seen it elsewhere, not just on the Ovation website.. when the guitar is billed as a 40th Anniversary model, but is actually being sold as a 50th Anniversary model (with the Phoenix on the 12th fret). Are these originally the 40th Anniversary models brought back for the 50th?? Sorry, but I must have come in after the movie started because I'm a bit confused about that.
Anyway.. in the end I find it to be a much nicer site than the one it is replacing. Excellent job, guys!!

Yes Ovation started in 1966 and Adamas came out in 1976 so 50th for ovation 40th for adamas. |

I first thought maybe that was the case, too, but I still see the 12th fret "Phoenix" models (50th) being displayed and advertised under a 40th banner. It's that way on the new site. Was there a Phoenix inlay being used back in 2006?? If so, then I am ridiculously lost in time and guitar knowledge (not that that's anything new). |

As to "Delete"... you have a few minutes to edit...
so you could erase everything and put a nice photo instead.

No, that is a 1983 1537 Elite...
or a Wood Topped Adamas back before there were WT Adamii.
I was just demonstrating a random photo.

Hi LOF!
The Phoenix represents a "rebirth" or "rising from the ashes" of the Company going under because of F(ender)'s lack of commitment, or giving a good golly darn... DW bought the Company and the First Batch of Anniversary Guitars under their Leadership fly the Phoenix. It is Ovations 50th Anniversary, and Adamas' 40th Anniversary this year, so both have the Phoenix!
ALL HAIL DW!!!!! HAIL!!!! HAIL!!! HAIL!!!
Now drink your grog and celebrate! |

I was just lost on the years since I always thought that the Adamas was launched in a "2" year. Why, I don't recall. Probably had too much grog and stuff in me 'ed back then.. or now, for that matter :-) |

| I said in another thread that I think the new website is very very nice and I stick to that, however what I am missing are the RRP's for the guitars. All other websites (Martin, Gibson, Taylor, Larrivee, ..) have these. I hope Ovation will list these soon too. |

however what I am missing are the RRP's* for the guitars. *(Recommended Retail Price)
I don't think that Ovation ever had prices on their website...
I could be mistaken, but I don't remember seeing any.
Here is a Wayback Machine capture of a 2004 Ovation website page. No Price.
But if you want a price of any AX or TX or Celebrity... or old stock Adamii.
Just look at Sweetwater, Musician's Friend or GC.
Otherwise, the 50th Anniversary Ovations are around $4,500.
40th Anniversary Adamas are around $6,300. HERE
You would have to contact Alpep or you local Authorized Dealer.
Korean and Chinese made Ovation and Celebrity guitars are continuing as before as far as I can tell.

| Thanks Old Man Arthur. I already looked up some prices at various guitar stores. Sometimes I am not sure whether prices are for the new guitars or for these Korean or Chinese ones (which IMHO are not true Ovations). Would be nice if Ovation themselves listed the recommended retail prices though.
Cheers, Bob. |

A while back I heard about MAP (minimum authorized price) but that is often kept secret.
I am pretty sure that the days of buying a $599 USA Ovation are history.

The ovation website had msrp in their last few years with Fender from maybe 2011 to 2014. Up until about 2010 they posted PDF of their current price list. Many of these are posted on the ovation tribute site. I have updated a spreadsheet using the price lists with msrp from about 1971 to 2010 for almost all models and posted that a few months ago on here. Prices after that were on the website and should still be accessible via way back machine. |

IMO, this is a very effective example of combining video and beautiful photography into a guitar lust-inducing outreach. There's no reason that Ovation can't do things like this. |

Don't know what goes on in the minds of DW but maybe this approach just doesn't fit their plan at this moment. Their drum site is pretty robust with lots of content and videos. etc. So maybe it just hasn't trickled down to the guitar site yet. Lack of a stellar website would not keep me from lusting over Ovation and Adamas guitars. |
