Location: Phoenix AZ | I wish I was talking about my 35th birthday ,,, but actually today is my 35th wedding anniversary.
Pretty darn hard to imagine, but anyway it's here. My wife has ben a saint with me over all these years and watched with a "blind eye" as I've dragged *** knows how many guitars in to and out of the house. The count of Ovation alone is well over 100. She's always kept a smile on her face and lived by the attitude "as long as there is food on the table, a roof over our heads, and a star on the hood of my car then buy whatever you want."
I really struggled with finding the perfect gift. So I figured after so many years of patiently watching my guitar addiction that there could be no more fitting gift than to finally get her a nice Ovation or Adamas of her very own. As luck would have it, Al arranged for my 40th Anniversary Adamas to arrive TODAY. I think she is going to absolutely love it ... am I a genius or what ?
Of course she doesn't play the guitar, and actually has no interest in it whatsoever. But it's the thought that counts and I think she will be blown away by my creativity and thoughtfulness on this very special day.
I'll let you all know how it goes. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Good luck, Dave. A silver BMW on our 25th didn't even work for my wife, so I had to keep it for myself. I suspect you'll suffer the same fate, but keep trying. I'm not sure if they are really saints or if they are being punished for some sins in a past life. 40 is coming up for us next year for us, so I'm sure SWMBO has one of those 40th Anniversary Adamases on order for me and is just holding on to it. |

Never buy your Wife a present that you wouldn't want to get hit over the head with.
Waffle Iron? Think about it...
Big Heavy Vacuum Cleaner? Think again...
Adamas Guitar that will not break, and can be used over and over and over again??? Maybe not...

Location: Always beautiful canyon country of Utah | On our 25th my wife wished only for a song and a bowl of stale Rice Krispies. I, however, being a sometimes devoted and caring husband gave her two songs (she likes Thirsty Boots) and a bowl of fresh Rice Krispies. That was several years ago and in the interim she has switched to Cheerios (sometimes stale). We remain hanging by a thread when we are together (she says too much togetherness is bad for a marriage) and all is well indeed. She is still in my will and I am perhaps in hers. |

I'll post some pictures and comments when I get time, but long story short the 40Th Adamas is a KILLER of a guitar. I knew it would be good, but not THAT good. Sonically and visually stunning. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I suspected that was coming, although I was slightly surprised at your reaction to the guitar. It's good to see that Ovation has made a guitar that suits your tastes. It's been a while. It's only 1 more year till our 40th. I hope there aren't any 40th Anniversary guitars left by then.

Location: undisclosed | Glad that works out, probably means more guitars too. Say, I need a wife, are they cheaper by the dozen or does network TV have to be involved for that to happen? |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I never could understand polygamy, or even divorce and remarriage for that matter. One wife is expensive enough. Guitars are cheaper than mistresses or divorces. Whether marriage is cheaper than a guitar habit, I'll never know. My wife handles the finances and she hasn't told me how much she costs. |

But I may be able to help you Mark. Your wife sounds very expensive and probably likes expensive things. It is your job to be a expensive husband so go order that 40th anniversary guitar!

Location: Boise, Idaho | For almost 40 years things seem to be working out, so I think I'll just stay the course. Mine's probably lots cheaper than most and keeps telling people that I have 17 Ovations, which is a couple low. I'm afraid if I hit 20 she might notice. |

I see that Sweetwater advertises that they have #2 and #3 of the custom legend on pre-order. THAT should be pretty interesting ... |

Though I don't get it why they would mention that the Elites are bearclaw spruce and then cover it up with black gloss ... what's the point of that? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/manufacturer/Ovation/high2low
