I was able to find my Red VXT 2008 in Wonderful Condition, and OMG is it a Songbird!
I can totally blame Matt Smith on this one. I saw him playing a black one on a YouTube Video, and loved the sound(s), so started hunting. Lots of Blacks but no Reds, then this one popped up on Reverb. I am just thrilled with it, looks and sound!!
Got to hand it to the Sam Ash stores too, FAST shipping for only $20, very well packed, and better condition than described in the ad, I am just thrilled!

Brad, my impressions of the acoustic tone are similar to yours. I am not a fan of the acoustic tone (and I'm not Matt... he can make anything sound good). Mostly it's because the modeled Fishman sounds don't sound like a plugged in Ovation. But it was still decent enough to work with, especially plugging into an Acoustic pedal (I use the Boss AD-8). But all of that aside, main issue is the bridge. The only way to adjust action is saddle by saddle, and then you screw up the radius, unless of course you have a radius guide for that particular neck, and really, that's just a huge headache to deal with.
My opinion... Any set/thru neck needs a bridge where action can be set by raising/lowering the entire bridge (think Gibson style Tone Pro, or Ovation solid body Schaller bridges). Or if you MUST have these crappy Fender style bridges, then you need to bolt the neck with a neck angle adjustment screw like Fender does. This is a HUGE design flaw in my mind. It's not just the VXT. There are many builders that do this on set/thru necks. Carvin is a big offender, so is Hamer and several others. Really, it's one of the very few things Gibson does right all the time. I can't recall them using that style bridge on a set neck.

There is a NOS RED 1979 Ovation Viper electric guitar for a sale at a great music store here in Ottawa for a really good price. Check out www.spacemanmusic.com/vintageguitars. I'd go for it myself, but...THANK YOU, JESUS, HALLELUJAH, AND AMEN, I think SWMBO? is looking probably/most likely for an engagement ring of some kind in the not-too-distant/maybe/ perhaps/forseeable future. She has never been to a music store. I'm slowly beginning to know what the other guys who are actually married go through,(OVATION WOMEN ROCK!), but ITS ALL GOOD!! We've only known each other for about 6 weeks, so seriously, we'll wait a bit, eh? Honestly, Nancy this guitar is a great piece of Ovation history, and it is RED. "Only in CANADA? Pity."

Location: Boise, Idaho | I've been back to the acoustics for several months now, but I've been missing my time struggling with trying to play some lead on my electrics. Steve Eaton played at a Christmas party last weekend and his lead guitarist was quite good. I kept thinking I should be able to do that if I'd just practice more.

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA | Hi, Nancy,
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Seriously, we are only just beginning this, as of 6 weeks ago. (Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. So go ahead, insert, "We've Only Just Begun," by The Carpenters here already.) We are off to a good start so far. We are also in no real hurry. I put the word," s-l-o-w-l-y", in my last post to you for a reason. She thinks my 1993 Ovation Collectors guitar is beautiful, and that I'm funny. I think SHE is beautiful, and that's me being NOT funny! She is very big on me playing my guitar more, and me singing more, etc., etc. Like I said, we'll wait a bit. My family is going through a period of change/transition with my dear Mom selling her house, and moving to a nursing home. The lovely lady in question works as a federal government security guard, (SO I GOTTA BE GOOD, eh?), with just cray-cray hours. We pray together all the time, ( Can I say that here?), and we SKYPE, all the time. We will only get see each other physically maybe? twice in the next month. In answer to your question about "the question", it's bit of head-scratcher for me yet still, because I'm a super-newbie with all this guys and dolls stuff, as in like, "It's never happened to me before?." There is actually a "Special Moments", greeting cards store here in Ottawa. Maybe that what that's for? Oops. "Love, or somethin' like it's, Gotta hold on me!" More to follow. Nancy, did you check out the vintage 1979 Ovation Viper yet? It would a great addition for some OFC member who likes to get plugged in to an amp, and play at '10'; "Because there is NO "11". (Nigel Tuffnall-This is Spinal Tap-1979)

What does it mean when SWMBO asks, "Mike, can I buy one of your guitars?" I think she's eyeing my Ovation, but no mention of "a ring" thing as of yet! Maybe it's more serious than I thought, eh?

I wish I could I afford that 1979 RED Ovation Viper here in Ottawa, ON., CANADA,(550.00 CAN, w/ OHSC), but my coinage must now go for other things....? It would look good in your NAN-CAVE.

The RED 1979 Ovation Viper Electric Solid Body Guitar here in Ottawa ON., CANADA is now SOLD. No, unfortunately for Me, Myself and I DID NOT buy it?! It was scooped up by someone else?, for the uncommonly ridiculous price of $550.00 CAN., w/original case, no less!! My lady and I are still together, writing a book, and... no, it's not too late to live happily ever after! We're still working on that part, as well.

The question was popped. The answer was topped- by a YES! The moment was unbelievable, because, yes, truth is stranger than fiction, and well, you had to be here this past Sunday! The whole scenario was and is worthy of your laughing snorts of Mountain Dew! We are definitely the poster couple for your belief that, "It's Never Too Late To Live Happily Ever After!" I'm 61, she's 42. God is so good! Thank you for your kind encouragement here.

Good Lord, I'm in lust over that guitar! What a beauty.
Lately I've been working on building my repertoire and have found myself wishing for a hybrid. Having given away my loved but under-used hybrid Deacon to my daughter, the thought of a VXT has been lurking in the background. Your red VXT is to die for.
