Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Inspired by all the new energy surrounding Ovation and the desire to start playing again, I decided to setup a music room. It's not complete yet but with so many guitars and so much gear I needed a dedicated spot to setup, play, test to see what gear stays or goes, re-invent my tone, learn tunes, practice, etc...
When I had my studio I had a pretty sweet setup that involved just a few moments from the time I decided I'd "go play for awhile" until actually playing. Basically just plug in and go. If I wanted to play along with something, it didn't matter what media it was in or on, it was all within arms reach in the control room and all hard wired through the main mix console.
While we still plan on opening a studio out here, I needed someplace to just play a guitar that didn't involve moving gear and setting up for an hour, just to plug in for a few minutes. Even if I wanted to play an acoustic, and didn't have a spot to sit that wasn't in the way of something or someone else without a way to listen to anything to play along with.
Well, over the past week, problem solved. It's still a work in progress, but I can walk in, grab an electric or acoustic, or bass, plug in or not, play via amp or not and play along with something on my iPod or not and it takes about as long as reading this sentence to setup and go. whew...

It is nice to have all of your "Toys" where you can see them, and just reach out and grab one, then another!! |

Location: Glendora, CA | Nice! I am so envious, back when I lived in Portland my hair was curly and my instruments naturally humidified up on the wall, now in So Cali, with the heater is on and humidity has dropped to 2% - thanks a lot El NiƱo, all the boys and girls have returned to their humidified cases, and my hair is like straw! Someday when I get my own cave set up I plan to make a humidified cabinet with a glass front so I can see all the toys and still have them at hand. A boy can dream, and in the meantime look on at these caves with awe.

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Thanks everyone. I should have a phase #2 photo in the next couple of days cause my "a.r." tendencies kicked in and there are a few more Ovations to hang. Can't hang "almost" all of them... or "can't have one breadwinner with the other" or "but you have GS-1's and GS-2's" and and and....
Plus I need room for at least two more over the next year, or at least that's the rumor. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Yeah I don't know what the deal on the GS3F is. It's not plywood that's for sure. I may upgrade the bridge, but really it's not bad as is. I wish I knew what the deal was cause "Sunburst" was not an option, but this is one of the best "superstrats" that ever was. Frankly, of super-strats, the only one I'd rate higher is the white GS3K on the end. I upgraded the Kahler Flyer to a Kahler Pro. The Dimarzio pickups used on all of these are just fine. The GS1K has an X2N pickup which because it's only one pickup is a pretty good choice I think. It came that way, and I was originally going to "restore" the original pickup, but decided... on a one-pickup shredder.... an X2N is just peachy. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I have a GS3F in red. Although the Kahler bridge is better, I keep forgetting that the tuning is done on the bridge instead of the peghead. The Fulcrum bridge works fine, although I have never trusted it to use the whammy bar. It's every bit as good as a Fat Strat. Mine was pretty beat up when I got it, but some heavy polishing and replacing a few screws made it look as well as it played. |

What's the point of having a tremolo if you don't use it? I use the bar all the time on guitars that have it. The only reason I would upgrade to a better Fulcrum is not necessarily to stay in tune better, but technology has come a long way and some of the newer fulcrums, although they look rather similar, have a little smoother action. |

I can see the logic though, "JUST GO SLEEP WITH YOUR DAMNED GUITARS THEN!"
(Not that it would ever come to that....)

I have found it yet either, but I think it was in one of the "in between" series specials...
However... I have been diligently trying to get a screen shot of Lister's Ovation on Red Dwarf. The early seasons had what I thought was an Ovation, but it appears to be a knock-off. The Headstock has AC or CL on it instead of an Ovation logo. It looks like it could be an Academy too.

That would be the "Smeg-Head" model... |
