| which do you prefer and why? I'm sure they both have special attributes, but what makes your preference special to you?
Thanks..... |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | The Al Di Meola. I like the A bracing, I prefer the center soundhole, and there's no way you can beat the electronics. Also, I believe the Di Meola comes in black only. And black guitars sound better. |

| There's no real difference between a Custom Legend and an ADM, right?
Red? The Mrs. says I don't look good in red. |

Location: south east Michigan | I have a blonde dimeola that has aged to an awesome golden honey color.
also cut away vs non cut away. Might be hard to quantify a tone difference between the two.
I went with a dimeola because up to that point I did not own a cut away. |

There's 2 different Al DiMeola signatures There's loads of Custom Legend models. For instance, the most recent versions of the CL and AD2 are very different from eachother, all the way down to the bracing, not to mention a Custom Legend wasn't offeres in a deep bowl for the last several years. The CL is available in the mid-bowl and deep contour (1779LX and C2079LX) and have X-bracing. The AD2 is deep bowl with A-bracing But if you can find a non-Al DiMeola 1769 CL and put it up next to the first 1769 AD model, it'll be close, just electronics differences. |

I asked a similar question when I first joined the OFC three years ago, custom legend v custom elite. I was wanting to buy my first O at the time.
One of the replies was to get both models, which I did.
That was the start of a bad bout of GAS. Every now and then I think I'm in remission, but I fear that may not be possible.

Location: Boise, Idaho | People used to ask me why I had more than one Ovation. Initially, it was easy. A 12 string sounds different from a 6 string. Then it was that an Elite sounded different from one with a center sound hole. Not better, just different. Then there was nylon strings sound different, then wider neck, then graphite top and now nobody asks, because they don't have time for me to explain all the differences. I should just hand them a book and then ask if they want me to describe the 99 different effects on my amp. Enjoy the difference. |

This is my story in a nutshell. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I actually prefer talking about all the differences in my guitars, but most people start rolling their eyes after a couple. Those are usually the ones who ask the difference between a 6 string and a 12 string and then don't even get pissed when I say "6 strings." |

| Excellent feedback folks.....thanks.
I already have the 1982 1669 Custom Legend, so maybe I should look for a 1537. |

Location: us | I love my Al Damon. It's the AD2. You were right, the black is awesome. I would recommend it too anyone. It sounds way better than my 1777 legend LX. Trying to post photos. |
