Location: Canada | So far I have been keeping my guitars in their cases, but am considering leaving one out on a stand. So I'm wondering what's a good stand for mid or deep bowl Ovations? I like to shop at Strings & Beyond and the only thing they have is a wooden Cooperstand, also checked out the Hercules GS141B. But am also open to any of your expert opinions. |

I like that it keeps the guitars securely separated and is on wheels. For single guitars I use a Musician's Gear stand available from Guitar Center. |

Location: Utah | Hercules has a really nice automatic grab system which keeps the neck from sliding or bumping out. To tip a guitar out, you have to tip the entire stand over. It is a lot more secure than stands with an open Y up at the top of the neck. |

.
also... guitars should not be locked up in cases under the bed. You'll enjoy having them out in the open.
I have mine on wall and on stands all over the house where I can enjoy them without even picking them up.
Wood box guitars might need to be pampered, coddled and kept in the dark but WE own Ovations. ... the working man's guitar.

Location: UK | I just bought a Hercules GS415B and I love it. It's pretty large and heavy compared with my other stands but this obviously makes it mighty sturdy. I would definitely recommend it and am planning to buy a few more. |

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA | Hi, d'ovation,
I use 4 different stands for my Ovation, depending on the situation, and they all work well. My favourite is the Hamilton KB-38. I use that one exclusively at home, and I have a cheaper Profile stand in my bedroom, that I use whenever I change strings on my Ovation. I also have a spare, "Frankenstand", in my gig bag, which I made myself, many years ago, from parts, when I worked in a music store at one time. It works well in a pinch. I used the Hercules Autogrip stand at church here in Ottawa. At my home town church, I use an early model, (c. 2005?) Profile, 3-guitar stage stand, along with the other guitarists, but it does not have wheels. The is also a newer guitar stand called, The Bendit , which is a different concept, but has gained a following.

They were relatively cheap ($15) and they work.
I just got mine from a local store... so I think one or two of them were less than $15.
But I like the flip-over retainer thingy.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Years ago, I recall some discussion about those inexpensive stands with foam arms causing discoloration on the finish of certain guitars. I believe that it pertained to certain electric guitars that were stored long term in the stand where the foam came in contact with the guitar's neck and body. Not sure I ever saw any evidence of the discoloration, but it freaked me out and I taped over the foam in all the stands I was using at the time. I also used a Herc triple on stage for a few years, but have since switched to three separate individual Herc stands. I found the triple actually required a lot of space to allow access to all three guitars whereas the three individual Herc stands could be placed in less space (depth always was the issue) with each guitar facing outward. |

Location: Yokohama, Japan | ..and my two cents worth (and then some...). I really like those portable stands that Damon67 talked about; but today, as I walked through a "recycle" store, I came across this... It's a stool and a guitar stand all in one! I think this one is an older model and doesn't come with the foot rest that newer models come with, but I can make one pretty easily, and it will come in handy for small cafe type gigs where it's just me and my O. More here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwtG__CnzNk Kind of pricey at $60 new, but I figured I couldn't go wrong for 20 bucks! Do any of you guys or gals use these? |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I like those. I wish I'd seen them before Christmas so I could put it on my list. I have a couple of Ovation stools in the guitar room, but they are too heavy to take anywhere and the fold up kind could be stored out of the way when not being used. |

Location: Bolton, England | Didn't know whether to start a new thread or resurrect this one, so hope I've done the right thing. I'm in England and fancied the Cooperstand. Unfortunately neither Cooperstand themselves or their UK distributors were able to tell me whether they'd work with a bowl back and didn't seem too interested in helping, so I gave up on them. Recently a relative bought me one for my B'day so it was some trepidation that I tried it - but it works! Pictures attached in case you're so inclined and (like me) can't find any in stock nearby to try and get begger all help from Cooperstand/distributor. This is a Celebrity with (I think) a mid depth bowl. A deeper bowl wouldn't fit. I like it. It holds the guitar surprisingly securely, folds up/down with one hand (with a bit of practice!) and fits in the hardcase behind the tuning head (I put a bit of foam between it and the guitar). The hinges don't feel like quality in use, but Cooperstand website states that the play in them is intentional to help with stability if knocked or pushed - time will tell

Location: Italia, Zianigo di Mirano (Venezia) | for me the best is Dixon mantis series (view photo in the link) . Hercules is cool, but I do not like the guitar hanging by the neck . | I have a couple of inexpensive Onstage XCG4 stands that I've used for several years without any issues. They're cheap enough that you can have a one in different rooms so there's always a stand available:

| I bought one of the newer stool/stands that has the higher foot rest. I use it at all of my solo shows now because the high bar stools won't let you reach the floor and I use a harmony pedal on select songs. The quality isn't that great for the money. There was an elastic strap that secures the guitar to the stool that came off the first time I tried to use it and all the screws that hold the seat in place were loose. The upside is it folds flat and is pretty easy to transport. There is also a foam piece where the neck cradles.
If I lost or broke it I'd buy another. |
