Passed by the pawn shop on my way home this evening and spied an Ovation in the window. Of course, I immediately made the detour and had to look. It's a Celebrity GC157 and by the serial # it was made in 1992. It has a couple of dings and has what looks like a hair crack in the finish between the head stock and the neck. No idea on the electronics, though I don't use an amp on my 1615. I know it's not a top-of-the line Ovation but with those inlaid wood epaulets, it did look sweet!

Can anyone comment on playing that particular model? Good, bad, impressions?

Welcome! I miss my trips up to Moscow. Our daughter moved to California about 7 years ago.
I found this forum when I was looking at a similar Celebrity. I didn't buy it, but kind of went overboard on other Ovations.

I'll be as unhelpful as Mark. My son and daughter-in-law live in Moscow and work at UofI

.....and I'm no help on the Celebrity either :D

My opinion is that the super shallow bowls with a plywood top doesn't sound that great. Too thin.

I saw Edward Abbey in Moscow in 1978. And a rousing performance it was!!
