It is going around on Facebook that Gregory Dobrov (aka Dobro) has died.

I don't know if this is true, but condolences to his family if it is true. Can someone who knows him confirm?

From Greg's brother's facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/adobrov?fref=tl_fr_box&pnref=lhc.friends

"My beloved brother Grisha passed away this morning after a 4-year battle with cancer. He was such an amazing father, husband, scholar, musician - and the best bro. We miss him so much already"

.....................RIP our OFC friend.......... Dobro...

Terrible. Did anyone here even know he was suffering a 4 year battle with cancer? I'm thinking he fought it privately, with all the dignity he could muster.

Very very sad news, indeed. His music was so creative and inspiring. When I ordered his GuitarFire CDs, I asked for an autograph. Instead he sent me a kind note. Deepest condolences to family and friends...

Sad. We talked quite a bit about getting together when I was in Chicago a few years ago, but we never could work out the schedule. He was a very bright and talented guy.

I've had several conversations with him over the past few years, including sending pictures he requested for the artwork on the album. I never had a clue. I understand though. It's a private thing for most of us fighters/survivors.

Truly sad. I sold him the Adamas that he used for all of his live shows and recordings.
It was a great sounding guitar in my hands but a magnificent guitar when he played it.
RIP

Bad news indeed. violins lost a friend. I thought it great he had sought out and used Jerry Goodman on his recording. His friends and family have something to remember him by.

I'm so sad tonight.
Greg was a very nice guy, he has been so kind with me in the past and I'm really shocked.
Nothing else to say than these few words in french.
Repose en paix très cher Greg et sois assuré que tu resteras dans notre mémoire.

I too had spoken with Greg recently. When Jeff was selling his guitar I talked to Greg about it and he was concerned that Jeff was selling all his stuff. He seemed like a great guy. The guitars sold on eBay before I had a chance to buy it and I even spoke with Jeff just after it sold. Then a few days later Jeff was gone.

Very sad to loose them both and their music.

You know, it really makes you wonder/think. I know everybody's different, but there are those like Dobro who suffer whatever they're going thru in dignified silence. Then there are others who feel it's necessary to divulge every little problem they might have, to people they don't even know, on the world wide web.
Hunh....?
