Hi gang, brand new here.

I have an old Celebrity DLX cc257 that I played so much I wore it out twice. It's not worth overhauling again so now I want to replace it. I played a look-a-like about 10 years ago and it didn't even come close to the feel and play-ability of my old Celebrity. Now when I go shopping online for a used (under $400) replacement I get overwhelmed by all the model numbers. Can anyone help me with a search phrase or keyword to help me find a used SSB American Ovation? Or a link to a short list of American super shallow model numbers? Do I actually need to go American to get a similar build quality that I have now? (I'm not interested in beauty or collecting -- I just need a practical but professional workhorse.)
Thanks
Joe

If you're looking for the multi-hole SSB the majority USA models will be either 1868, 5868, 6868, s868

If there's a TX or EX or AX or anything like that after, it's after production was moved to Asia. If it says LX or T, (or nothing) it's USA. The -1, -4, -5 etc. stuff is the finish color.

The build quality on a USA model should be a cut above what you were used to with your Celebrity.

Take a look here: http://www.ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=32... The list is not 100% correct but the beat there is. Observe that the s.c. Artist bowl is listed as Shallow - which is not the same as the Super Shallow bowl (SSB). Also the first SSB came out in 1983, so look for guitars listed as shallow with production period starting in 1983 or later.
